Imagine, sometime far into the future you won't be able to name your games in human language without infringing on some retarded copyrights.

Ghost is a terrible word to have in any title imo
rarely works

It works for naming a super duper special forces group, as they're meant to not exist and be completely silent and invisible. Like ghosts are.
I can't wait until the word "Life" is copyrighted, or "Simulator", or "half", or "Call", or "Bat", or "The"
Now all we need is Activision to get in on this and we'll have a real throw-down on our hands.

call of duty ghosts
there we go, get activision in on this
So are they gonna sue the Ghost in the Shell game? :v:
Trademarks are so silly.
to be honest it really blows my mind that anyone could be so evil as to try and do this with any single word.
if it's unique, like, lets say, iPhone, or Phonenana, Vitamelts, Vitaminmade or something that's insanely specific to a specific product that it clearly creates a new word, that would be fine, because it clearly creates a totally unique word in and of itself. Especially when its a phrase like "Call of duty" etc. Totally reasonable and I think that these things need to be copyrighted/trademarked so someone can't just make their own game called Call of duty: Black cops".
but copyrighting "Ghost" or "React", or "telephone", that idea is just what the FUCK
its ESPECIALLY fucked that people attempt to do it to entire common phrases such as "lets play" or "Call of X", or "Dark X", or even "X reacts"
Here's the deal EA. Ubisoft released Ghost Recon in 2001. Ghost Games Studios was founded in 2011. Fuck yourself
Either way, you should not be able to trademark a single word that's in the dictionary and been around for nearly 200 years. If they trademark the word ghost, it's possible that anyone using Spirit, Phantom or Phantasm infringes on it. You'd have to argue it, but the point is, it's arguable and possible

Even then, it shouldn't even be legal that someone can copyright a single common English word
or any single common/official word in any language really.
For fuck sake, how can you trademark a word that is commonly used everywhere?
I'm going to trademark the word "fuck" and sue every triple-A developer of the past 6 or so years.

besides ghostbusters and Ghost in the shell
Ghost Walker, The Ghost of Sin, and ghost devil. But a good game or movie makes the title.
