Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help me with a dilemma. I am going to be getting a new computer soon and am thinking of building it myself; I know what parts I want but am unsure where to get them from. I don't want to buy off the internet as if something goes wrong getting it repaired can be difficult and can take a while (so I have heard from friends). So I was wondering if anyone knows of any good, trustworthy PC stores in the UK, in the Cheshire area? If at all possible reviews on the places would be awesome ;). If it helps the specs I was going for were:
CPU : Intel Core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge LGA1155 Retail Boxed with Cooler
Motherboard : Asus P8Z77-V LX Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Graphics Card : Nvidea Geforce GTX 660
VRAM : Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Module Kit
Windows 7 home premium
Case that will contain it all, possibly quiet case fans + CPU fan/heat sink
Essentially you will pay a lot more to get those parts locally.
As long as you buy good quality brands from a reputable online retailer you shouldn't have any trouble even if something does go wrong.
Having built a few hundred computers in the last couple years, I have had maybe 10 defective DOA parts.
If you are worried about things going wrong, order online from scan.co.uk , their support is great.
Neither of you have answered my question... the point was to find a LOCAL company that I can buy direct from. That way if anything goes wrong then I can take it back to them, rather than have to go through the hassle of chasing people up on the internet where they can easily ignore me. Please stop posting telling me to buy on the internet because that is not the point of the thread...

Look here fucker, we don't give a rats ass if you wan't to buy locally, cause the prices are always more expensive, that and we're not going to look up PC stores in the Cheshire area, that's your job. Go buy your shit on the internet, we're not doing your work for you.

I really don't care if you think that, if you can't form a calm and helpful comment then just don't. The first thing that I said was that I wanted to know was if anyone lived in the area knew of any good places that they would recommend, leave without saying anything if you can't help. Now please stay off this thread. Your not helping...
You are asking us to do work for you that you could do just by driving around town. Seriously. The chances of finding someone who both A) lives in the same place as you and B) knows of a good retail electronics store that sells, among other things, processors and motherboards are so slim that you'd be better off just typing "COMPUTERS" into Google and blindly clicking any result on the page.
Put in the effort, and maybe people will be more apt to help you. That being said, good luck finding a place like that. Try Best Buy for a few of those parts and make sure you've got plenty of cash in your pocket if you go.
Your just going to get shit parts at a shit price locally unless you got a frys or microcenter.

no... I'm asking for reviews on the places as there aren't any on the web. FFS why can't anyone understand this?
Where do you live if you want stuff locally? There should be some store nearby. But the problem is that you can get a lot of stuff online that's cheaper than retail bro. Re-read your post, you live in Cheshire! :v:
Cheshire PC Centre? It's online though. I'm not certain if there's a store of themselves though.

Hey! Buy me a plane ticket, and I will personally go drive to every local store in your town and give you a review.
Or you could just, y'know, do it yourself. (Or better yet, buy everything online.)
Can you see the point were trying to make?
nvm, i can see that this is just going to escalate. I have found a store called Microton and those parts specified in there cost me £630, so I simply ask if you think that is good and if you know of the place or have bought from the place what are your views on it? I really don't need to know that you have never heard of it and I don't need to be told how to browse the internet, I wouldn't be commenting here if I couldn't do that. I just want to know if they can sell me reliable parts... they don't have a website at the moment and there are no independent reviews online, I can only go on what my friends have told me about it, and that is only a couple of people who bought from there.

What have your friends said about it?

Mixed reviews, one said that he got given really bad parts, though he isn't as knowledgeable with PC's as me, then my other mate's Dad it an IT guru and buys specific parts from there all the time and never has issue. So that leaves me a bit stuck on decisions. Like said I did look for independent reviews, but there just aren't any, I suppose its not a big enough store.
This was so hard to find. I literally typed "Microton UK" into Google, the Cheshire location popped up on the map, I clicked the pinpoint, and right under the name, it said "9 REVIEWS"

OP, please pay this man for his valiant efforts. He struggled so hard. One cannot comprehend how much effort he has slaved over this google search.
I think I should be paid also, as I have conjured this magical link that will assist you -snip-

Seriously? I never seen that before on here.
It was before, I saw tons of people fall to the mighty wrath of silly mods. Don't know if it still is or what, just trying to look out for ya.

Thanks, though I am surprised I haven't been banned for being a dick so far.

yeah I had already found those reviews and they were pretty much useless because the good ones were complimenting their ablilty to fix laptops and computer, not what they are like for gamers who want a gaming pc. thats why I ignored those.
also don't assume that I don't know how to google, I have already said this... I have searched the internet and nothing was useful, so I was asking you for your views on the store, if you have never been don't fucking comment...

Well, it really doesn't matter if we have experience on the particular store. Cause most of are them are the same, even in the UK.
There is almost no reason not to buy online. Local stores tend to be pricer, limited in their selections, and have some sleeze ball of a salesperson to fuck you over. Even if you managed to find a nicer place like Frys, most people here would still recommend online. Especially considering that the RMA process for items isn't that hard.

ok, thanks. But I have compared prices and it seems that this place is a lot cheaper than other stores for these particular parts, it was mainly if people trusted them. Because as this is a starter gaming pc for me I really wanted to buy locally so if I have any problems I can just take it round the corner instead of having to send it off to another country to have it fixed. In future I may buy from the internet but for the time being with it being so close and well priced I may just go for it. thanks for those of you who tried to help calmly and maturely, but I don't think I am going to get a helpful answer unfortunately. Nothing I could find out on my own anyway. I am going to have a talk with a friend who is really into building PC's when he gets back from his holiday as I know he uses Microton. I don't use facepunch much, but if someone could help me with closing this thread it would be greatly appreciated.
You gon get ripped off.
You gon get ripped off.
it was cheaper for those parts in store than anywhere I could see online, so I don't think I am getting "Ripped off"
RIP PC Club. That place was legit.
Might be hard finding anything now, most stores don't carry much more than graphics cards these days it seems (in my area anyways)
Scan.co.uk
its a 49 minute drive from Cheshire to the scan.co.uk shop
Thanks for those that offered help I have ordered it, I won't say where from to avoid controversy, but can someone please tell me how to close this thread?
Aka you paid out the ass for no good reason. :v:
Also, you can't.
