Neat, I haven't had a problem with getting season passes for any other game and BF3 did it very well, hope it continues with this.

There's really no single "god gun" that everyone uses. It's more about personal preference.
For instance, I get aced by LMG's all the time but I can't use them to save my life. Likewise everybody seems to be fucking retarded with the L85 and I demolish people with it.
Why do I have a feeling that now instead of packs they will tore them apart and release small chunks so they can fill their weekly quota.

there's all the guns that are fairly balanced and then there's the m16 / m4 which rolls over everything on PC

There probably will be. But it seems like they are using the weekly bonuses thing to keep people on the premium service rather than waiting for this. I expect it'll be things like skins and knifes, not weaponry (I hope...)

Armored Kill, Endgame and Back to Karkand were fantastic DLCs, but I'm really hoping for a BC2 Vietnam-style DLC for Battlefield 4.
Would be really nice to have 2143 as a BF4 DLC.

There will be. But with a predetermined premium pass, you'll probably fall behind in content, just because you don't want to pay $50 on top of the $60(Digital) or $70(Retail) game.
That's about $110 just to play a game and get the content, throughout a year. I don't know how it's legal, but people still buy it.

When I convinced my brother to wait for Battlefield 4's Premium Edition instead of pre-ordering or buying beforehand I completely forgot EA hadn't actually announced Premium yet.
I don't buy the full content packs for games until everyone's done having fun with them so the price goes down a little
