This is why they should have some protection for the parents, like the password for accessing the tablet when you've put security on it.

they do have password locks on purchases, the problem is how they're handled at the moment. the article mentions that current unlocks 1: don't explain on the prompt that it's to finalize a purchase, and 2: enables a 15 minute window in which it isn't required for any new purchases
It's always been basically: Child nags for app on device. Parents download it, putting in the Apple ID password to download it. Kid goes to do something and app says PAY MONIES TO GET YOUR THING NOW INSTEAD OF WAITING TWO DAYS LEL. Kid doesn't know any better and spends money by using the linked credit card. All within a 15 min period. This is a welcome change for everyone involved because before, getting your money refunded was a hassle and a half.
