Hey guys I have a small technical problem with my computer build. It came with hard motherboard USB 3.0 connections but when I connect my USB 3.0 samsung phone into the port with a 3.0 cable it says the port isn't the one it should be.. it says its just some other random USB 2.0 port.
1). I tried checking USB 3.0 is enabled in Bios
2). I tried uninstalling the intel drivers completely and reinstalling my USB 3.0 ones but that didnt work they just all broke.
3). I tried assigning my USB 3.0 drivers to run on the port the samsung is connecting to by right clicking it and selecting drivers from my PC. Then selecting my USB 3.0 controller. but windows said it cant perform that action as the best drivers are already running.
Here is a photo of my problem.
Running Windows 8.1
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55a-UD4

windows 8 doesn't use intel drives, it works like shit with usb 3 and intel doesn't even make drivers for it (last I checked)
I had issues with the windows 8.1 usb3 drivers as well because they sucked
Really depends on the motherboard too.
If you're fortunate like me I haven't even installed my 3.0 drivers yet they natively work just fine at USB 3 speeds :v:
I have a gigabyte motherboard which, for whatever reason, basically makes usb 3 useless to have if you are on windows 8
I pretty much changed to 7 purely because I couldn't really put anything in my ports. usb1/2 devices just didn't work right. Now they work perfectly fine.
w8 really shit the bed with those drivers
It's a renesas usb controller. Iirc usb3 came out after those intel chipsets did and isn't built in.

A bad experience with one board doesn't mean they're all shit

I'd try removing the old drivers with revo uninstaller and let windows find them itself in device manager, see how that goes.
Similar problem here, only my computer doesn't see 3.0 devices, only 2.0 and lower. Z77 chipset, same USB controller I think.
