I've been doing some Actionscript 2.0 and I get the basics of programming. Which programming language should I move on to? I'm mainly looking to develop 2D games, perhaps with a small team, maybe for a console. It's hard to choose! I really want to learn some more advanced languages, which one is the best to learn now? C++? C#? Whatever? Help me :frown:
C# with XNA is the fastest route to console development.
But I think you have to pay for a membership once you want to begin running your work on a 360
Flash/AS is good to stick with in my opinion. If you can make a great Flash game, it will be a lot easier to stir up interest on getting a small group to port it to console. It's happened many times before. Ad services like MochiAds + website sponsorships might provide enough income to keep you going til you're ready to take it to the next level

One step at a time. :v:
If you're looking at scripting languages specifically, try either Python or Ruby. If it's game's you're after, Python might be a better bet since there are more game/multimedia libraries for it.
Note that those two won't get you on a console. You'll need either C/C++ or C# with XNA. Note that C and C++ are compiled languages, not scripting languages.
Thanks! I think I'll stick with Flash for a while until I get better, then I'll try XNA
