I came across a case like this in my search for case mods:

It looks like a normal case but with a extra section at the top, does anyone here know of a case like this, new or old, a name of it so I can search for it to buy, or if anywhere still stocks these huge cases. Oh and Im trying to find one in the UK
It's just an ATX full tower case, search for those.
It's just an ATX full tower case, search for those.
Most ATX cases dont have that compartment above the PSU, and its a lot taller than most cases, but if I can find a ATX case with extra room overhead then that would also fit the critera I need.
I have one of these in the garage, but being as huge as they are, it's difficult to post.
Don't think I'll be selling it sorry, as it'd be too expensive to post/courier to you, but they are awesome for casemodding.
I'll buy it at a high price!
Oh man, I used to have that EXACT same case, I thnk! :v:
Sadly I ended up junking it, I just took the motherboard tray out of it so I could use it in my fish-tank PC, so it was useless after that.

ah thanks anyway, do you think you would be able to try and get me the name of it if it is on the case? unless by luck your in the south east of UK then I would get a lift and pick it up and give you the cash there and then.
And it was complete case modding, my idea was to put my gaming PC in the main bit, then mod a Mini ITX ION Build into the top as a file server/extra PC/media pc and of course decent cooling with large fans and 2 side windows, and some decent colour scheme but the tricky bit is finding one of these cases to start the work on.
Search for it on the scrapyard, I found something like that there.
Or build it yourself and put together a couple of cases or just the 5.25 inch drive openings and stack them together on a normal case.
Go to newegg and look up super full tower I think ABS makes one.
ABS Canyon 695. Extremely expensive though.
Or maybe a 24X24X9in mountainmods case
Or maybe a 24X24X9in mountainmods case
Not even close to as tall as the Canyon or the case in the OP.
Pringles has the same exact idea as me.
I've been planning on doing this but with an addition I would have to add on top of my antec 900, but with a case like that and sufficient cooling it would be perfect for my dorm.
Edit: If you want take a look at the different atx form factors. Most of the bigger ones are old and are for server usage. Look up Eatx or Watx form factors. They are mostly old, but with some ebaying and craiglist lurking you may be able to find someone selling a good sized case.
Also side question how much do you think I will be able to sell my antec 900 for?
I have found a suitable Lian Li case, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-175-LL&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=187
All that would need to be added are the windows, and motherboard mounts for the mini itx system at the top, but its very expensive, also it is of the highest quality and cooling so I wouldn't have to take into consideration the cost of the paint/cooling/modding that has already been done.
I will still look for server towers/original case on ebay first at it would be a lot cheaper and I get to do my own modding

:aaaaa:
Its just a full tower. My dad used to have two of them. They were old though and eventually just looked like shit. Just search for a full tower. Normal cases that people have are mid-towers.

no
ATX Super-full towers. They're pretty expensive though so look around local offices and stuff and see if they have anything they're throwing out.

It's mostly ABS that builds them anymore.

Come to think of it, I think ABS was the maker of the old case I had as well...
Is it possible to get them anywhere other than US? I know I can get one of those post redirecters but its easier if it comes from UK. I'll be checking ebay for those ABS and Lian Li cases.

We have found a winner! Just need to check if it takes ATX motherboards

What about a Mozart TX?
Holy shit they look amazing, now to find one in UK
Price is pretty good considering it has the windows pre installed and fans, as the fans would probaly come up to £20-£30 for all of them if I used the Chieftec case.

Does the moxart have two motherboard trays? I cant work it out as the spec says:
Motherboard Support
Primary:
ATX
Micro-ATX
Secondary:
Mini ITX
But I cant see it in the pictures. If so then that wins hands down.
Yes it has two, it supports (micro)-ATX on the left side, and micro ITX on the other side.
If you want I can provide pictures, as I own the case myself.

If you could show me pictures of the inside, of where the 2 motherboards go, that would be great. How is the cooling inside the case?
Sure give me a sec.
The cooling is pretty good, I think the only bad thing about it would be you have to be very clever with cable management, oh and don't expect to be able to put in really long cards.
For cooling, it has 3 120mm fans at the front on the ATX side, one top of the other, with fan filters on each one, they provide good airflow through the mobo for the graphics card and CPU, and like all other cases there's a 120mm on the back where the mobo I/O is.
The HDD cage is removable, but like I said before, you have to be clever with cables if you plan on filling it up. You could always purchase a 5.25" HDD cage if you want to remove the main cage for room with water cooling. There is a 120mm fan on the front of the cage which faces front to back so air goes in, past the HDDs, and out into the back, where 4 120mm fans are. Word of note, if you plan on putting a radiator on the back at the top, you might need to make extra holes if you want to put fans on the other side, or another radiator (basically the back is designed for just 4 fans in a square, not 2 radiators next to each other).
You have 5 5.25" bays, enough room for expanding. if you want more HDDs or what ever, there's also a 10" bay at the very top which is great for modding (fun fact; a car stereo fits perfectly in this bay).
The mini ITX side, is also where the ATX' PSU is. the PSU is mounted just below the 5.25 bays, vertically, there's also a grill for air intake (people have complained about the grill not lining up perfectly with the PSU fan, but there's plenty of air intake for it, especially considering there's a good 3+cm gap).
Below the PSU lies the mini ITX bay. The mini ITX is mounted upside down, so it has the port on the back. There are pre punctured holes in the back, be it for water cooling or wires from the mini ITX mobo. There's a small fan on the back too. If you were water cooling, or planning on, you would use this space for the reservoir/pump and crap like that.
There's 4 USB, Firewire, headphone/microphone, sata/sata power ports on the front, and the wires for them to connect to the mobo are VERY long, which lets you route them anywhere in the case. There's also a small blank screen, this was originally for Thermaltakes remote control, however if you want, you can guy a seven segmant display that plugs into the computer and have it display temps or what ever the like. I have one that is fitted to the serial port on the back of the mini ITX which tells me current specs of the home server like free HDD space, activity etc.
The only bad things about the case in whole, is the cable management, you have to be very good, and make sure you have extra long cables for the sata drives and CD drive (the case only provides (I think)2 sata cables and an extra long IDE cable).
Also first setting up the case and putting in the system, I advise taking off the side panels (4 screws, 2 hinges, top and bottom).
And lastly, the fan filters on the front of the case require you to take off the whole front case panel to get to them. Which means if you plan on cleaning out your computer, it requires taking the whole thing out, opening both doors, unclipping 4 tabs in each corner on the inside of the case, then popping the panel off, being careful of the top IO wires not getting caught.
I'm just turning the comp off now to take the photos.
Why do you have a Mozart TX?
Thanks JSharpe for all that info, So I am guessing there is about 9 120mm fan slots to fill up? I think I will get a large amount of plain fans and 2 red cold cathodes to complete the look I am aiming to get.
What made you buy the Mozart?
what the hell do you need one for
Here's the pictures Sgt Pringles; here
In one of them I showed the spacing of having a radiator on the back panel, it's pretty tight fit with it.
[editline]08:03PM[/editline]
What made the get the mozart was the ability to have 2 computers in one large case, it has so much room for modding, and experimenting. It's tall, and rugged enough to use as a large step to change the light bulb.
So I am guessing there is about 9 120mm fan slots to fill up?
Yes, however one of the fan spaces takes up one of the wire management holes. This fan is on the right hand side of the top fan (of the three at the front). There's a picture of it with wires covering it up.
also don't be fooled bu the amount of wires, there's two PSUs there and neither are modular.
Is it possible to use a Pico PSU http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=10#univ for the mini itx pc without the 5.25" PSU addon?
And thanks for the pictures my friend is now going to help out with this project, cant wait to start it and get the case, also did many fans come with it?
