After I've watched Ip Man 1 and 2, I've got interested in Martial Arts movies again. I was always a huge fan of it, but I haven't watched many in the past 3-4 years. Can you recommend me some? I'm a huge fan of well choreographed action scenes, like in Ip Man, but I wouldn't mind other flicks too. Even if they are less realistic or way over the top. I also don't mind if they are brutal as hell. Or very funny, as long as they are well made. Secret tips are welcome. What I've seen: - Ip Man 1, 2 and Zero (Zero sucked though) - Many Jackie Chan movies (One of my favorite Martial Arts actors) (Rush Hour 1-3, New Police Story, Who am I?, First Strike, Drunken Master, Medaillon, The Young Master and lots of others) - Ong Bak 1 and 2 - One or two Jet Li, but I don't remember them anymore - One Bruce Lee movie, (I think he worked in a restaurant there) - Kill Bill What I'm definitely going to check out: - Shaolin Kickers - The 36th chamber of Shaolin - Enter The Dragon - Kung Fu Hustle (newly added) - The Raid (newly added) - Merantau (newly added) Thanks in advance.
Have you considered watching The Raid movies and Merantau?
Kung Fu Hustle
Definetly the Raid. also, Kill Bill.
Have you considered watching The Raid movies and Merantau?
Haven't heard of them before. Gonna check them out for sure, thanks.
Kung Fu Hustle
Is that the one that is rather funny? Or am I confusing it with a different movie? I think I might have seen it, but I will check it out.
also, Kill Bill.
Already seen. I totally forgot about that one.
Once Upon a Time in China
Man of Thai chi Keanu Reeves directed it bad plot but cool fighting scenes

Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for since I don't know much about martial arts movies, but I remember watching a film known as The Forbidden Kingdom a while ago and I enjoyed the film. Jackie Chan and Jet Li are both in the film.
Pretty much anything with Donnie Yen in it is good. Flashpoint and Kill Zone: SPL are particular favourites of mine. Also, The Raid series (yes). Probably some more I can't remember.
Fucking Bloodsport.
If you enjoy the Hong Kong films of the 70s and 80s you should check out some Sammo Hung movies. He starred beside Jackie Chan in Project A as well as a few others. Really impressive athleticism for a chunky guy, check out Encounters Of The Spooky Kind (1980) for the scene where he's possessed by a series of different spirits with varying styles during the final fight. Also, this is asian cinema so everyone calls him Fatty in every movie.
-Chocolate (a lot like Ong Bak but with a kick ass female lead) -Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon -Iron Monkey (Stars Donnie Yen) -Shaolin Soccer (comedy akin to Kung Fu Hustle) -Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (has some kick ass fight scenes) Jet Li movies are pretty kick ass: -Fist of Legend -Kiss of the Dragon -Once Upon a Time In China I, II (features Donnie Yen), & III -Fong Sai-Yuk -Twin Warrior -The Bodyguard from Beijing (aka The Defender) -Fearless -My Father the Hero (The Enforcer) -Hero (features Donnie Yen)
36th Chamber of Shaolin - absolute classic there.
Thanks a lot guys. Too bad some of these movies are heavily cut in Germany (like every Jet Li movie). I need to find some UK versions.
The Protector. (Starring Tony Jaa) Also for something funny, check out Kung Pow.
Rush Hour 1 and 2
mortal kombat?
The Raid 2 just came out in blu-ray so you might want to pick that up after watching the first one.
Dragon Tiger Gate is a pretty cool comic-styled one. Or if you're after cheesy-as-fuck early 90's martial arts, look for Breathing Fire. Starring an older Short Round (just as annoying as Temple of Doom) and Bolo Yeung.

Samurai Cop
MORTAL KOMBAT!.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Its probably the best overall movie that has legitimate kung fu in it. Highly recommend it.
