as far as I can tell, Japan has made it pretty obvious before that they don't really like or give a fuck about Microsoft consoles
Tbh, doesn't really makes sense selling the X1 on Japan, home of the PS4 and Wii/WiiU.
Seeing as both the original Xbox and the 360 didn't fare well in Japan, odds are things won't get much better in terms of sales. And with that in mind you'd think they have remembered that and would have not bothered.
They probably could have sold more if they marketed it with Titanfall to appeal to mecha fans

The Xbox Original and Xbox 360 were good consoles (well minus the technical faults of the 360) and sold like shit in Japan despite Microsoft's attempts to cater to the JRPG genre.
Xboxes don't sell because they aren't made by Sony or Nintendo.

Xboxes don't sell because they don't have japanese games on them. It has nothing to do with Sony or Nintendo, just that there aren't games that pander to the japanese audience. That's why the PS4 hasn't been released in japan yet, they're(sony) waiting for good games.
Is there any core japan titles on the Xbone yet or did they jump the shark and release it anyway expecting the call of duty audience to be there?

AFAIK, there aren't any Japanese titles on the Xbone yet.
They did try making Japanese titles for the 360, with Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata (later on the PS3) springing to mind. Didn't do much for their sales.

I totally agree that you're opinion on the Xbox One is the sole reason the Xbox One sold poorly in Japan, and definitely not because this is a market already dominated by Japanese companies Nintendo and Sony in which most Japanese gamers already own both of their respective consoles, and don't want an American console which doesn't appeal to what the Japanese market is used to by services or games!
That it sold this much is surprising, simply because most Japanese have no need for a 3rd console which wont appeal to them like the PS4 or Wii U.
Part of it is, in my opinion, because Microsoft has shown blatant disregard for any market outside of North America in the past.
I imagine a lot of the trust for them has degraded, as even here in America way more people switched to PS4, and all around far less people that I know even bought next gen consoles.

I wonder if Microsoft will be able to turn the tables around and manage to turn it into a great console because so far, the only games any of them have to look forward to are MGSV and TW3
Xbox One isn't shit like most people say it to be.
Their specs a nearly the same with PS4 only being marginally more powerful. I doubt PS4 games will look better unless it's a dedicated, top notch exclusive.
Both consoles suck right now cause they don't have any games. I think this will be partially remedied during the holiday season. As of now, there are only a handful of good games and most of them are multiplatform. It will take a few years for either system to build up there catalog of triple A and double A games.
Too be honest, the systems are more similar to each other than they are different. Similar specs, both play blu ray, both require online subscription for multiplayer, and they have the same games as each other. So I assume the reason Xbone doesn't sell well in Japan is because it's an American console and doesn't have a home field advantage.
Shitty games on a shitty console where no user is able to pay for Xbox live because they are 13 years old and the servers stay empty. Better get a ps4 where people actually play online
