Valve still has to update VAC. I've heard there is a big problem with cheats in the game. Maybe when Source 2 will come out? We'll see.

valve prefer having a non intrusive anticheat with the benefit of having incredibly few to zero false positives, it's silly to think they couldn't update it to ban every single hack out there, but they'd almost certainly ban a few legitimate players too
I'd rather have some non-obvious cheaters running around than false positive cheat bans, tbh.
You should see the forums these hacks originate from:

These people.. I can't understand how they function.
I wonder if any pro's are on VACation today

I never understood how these types of people never understood why cheat makers say "don't use on your main because of VAC".

Yeah, some turkish CS GO player named coLLy got banned too.
and people thought they were safe with ring0 hacks
I loved the time when Gmod had that anti piracy thing which resulted in a bunch of people posting their steam IDs on here, many laughs were had.

The Cheatpunch thread is pretty good, too. garry rolled out a minor anticheat that banned >5000 cheaters by the time it was wdely bypassed, and invited people to post their Steam IDs if they genuinely didn't cheat and believed the ban to be a false positive.
And then posted screenshots when liars stepped up and contested their completely deserved bans.

Wait, so Cheatpunch made screenshots of the banned player's screen?
Wait, so Cheatpunch made screenshots of the banned player's screen?
Punkbuster used to do the same thing, IIRC
a lot of anticheats do, esp. ones for csgo leagues
Wait, so Cheatpunch made screenshots of the banned player's screen?
The screencapture was specifically whatever was going on in Rust legacy, not the player's desktop in full.
Oh fuck, that's amazing.
Mad props to whoever thought that up, like wow.
I'd rather have some non-obvious cheaters running around than false positive cheat bans, tbh.
I wouldn't call them non obvious. Ever so often you get obvious cheaters in competitive that ruin your entire match where you either have to abandon and get penalty or stay for ~30+ minutes and take a loss. At least smurfs play legit so you got some chance, cheaters are just obnoxious.

I thought it caught a glimpse of some kid's desktop who was using an external window program but I could be wrong

Considering Cheatpunch uses Unity's built-in screenshot function, that's misinformation. Cheaters tried to scaremonger and bring up all sorts of bullshit (GARRY MADE EVERYONE DOWNLOAD A TROJAN RUST IS SPYWARE THIS IS ILLEGAL AAAHHH) to try and erode confidence in anticheat and try and throw their completely-deserved bans out.
Including Altimor, admitted cheat writer, now pbanned with dozens of alts in cold storage that get picked off by the mods whenever he wakes one up. Although I may be thinking of the VAC "controversy" around the same time when VAC would scan your DNS cache if a primary detection had already been made. Again, all Valve was doing was checking if your machine had been resolving non-http host names for known paycheat download servers (the expensive ones are as DRM'd up as Steam and require you to log in and prove your subscription is still good, then it streams the cheats down and keeps them only on memory to try and foil reverse-engineering), but certain guilty parties called it a massive privacy violation and claimed Valve was slurping up your entire DNS cache (and therefore able to see what sites you've visited recently).

That thread is amazing. I had not followed the saga of rust much but man that was a good read.

Just wait and see when VAC will hit good enough.
But to be fair, a lot pros do have their mouse on "head level" for a better shot. Although CS:GO still has shite hitboxes.

I know that but just the whipping and snapping in the video, it's just too obvious.
