What's the perfect pic dimension for a steam avatar?

Steam resizes every avatar to 184x184, tho when I make an avatar at that dimension (no resizing and full quality) it ends up abit blurry and gay.
Is there any perfect dimension to use, so your avatar gets crystal clear or is steam doing this on purpose?

It's just because of the jpg compression

I think that's just the fact that it compresses it to jpg. Maybe if you compress it yourself to under a certain filesize it won't do it and you have more control over how good it looks. Can't be sure though.
