Yes, perfectly fine for computer idjits while the rest of us struggle to find anything on the internet because it's blocked. Thank god it's not mandatory and you can opt out of this shit.
I don't see what the big deal is, this just makes it super convenient for computer illiterate people to control what their kids can see.
It should be up to those people to take the initiative, not for the government to do it for them. Though I do agree that this has been blown up to sound worse than it is.
I don't see what the big deal is, this just makes it super convenient for computer illiterate people to control what their kids can see.
It's censorship, and if you let the government censor parts of the web, what's going to stop them from censoring whatever they like in the future?

Though I do agree that this has been blown up to sound worse than it is.
That's what governments are for. Most people don't have common sense, so you elect representatives to make choices for you that will make your life more enriched. (In theory) I don't watch porn, so that part doesn't concern me. I just know that filters aren't particularly selective, and that other more innocent things will get thrown into the mix as is stated in the article. That's the part that does concern me and where we definitively get into the censorship row, which I don't feel porn really applies to. At least not in the full context.
I don't see what the big deal is, this just makes it super convenient for computer illiterate people to control what their kids can see.
There are countless webpages containing porn and more being created everyday; so it would be impossible to block them manually therefore some sort of algorithm must be devised to block the pornography. The problem with this is that it will either be so narrow that it will allow large amounts of porn through and thus be an expensive waste of time whilst still make parents more irresponsible about their children browsing habits or it will be so broad that many legitimate sites like lgbt forums, sexual health and puberty related websites will be blocked. So it's basically a lose-lose situation, there are no benefits and only downsides no matter how this is implemented.
At least I would have an excuse to get it completely turned off.
I don't see what the big deal is, this just makes it super convenient for computer illiterate people to control what their kids can see.
There would be no problem if all these things were off by default. The thing is, all of them are on by default. Which means all those computer illiterates will have content blocked and have no real clue how to get past it.
That's it, I'm changing my last name to Pornwall.
"We want to protect our kids from the rudey internet/games".. Why won't the stereotype mother figure the problem is her, letting the kid play 18+rated games and not having a net-filter on the computer? It start to get on my nerves when I hear their careless actions results shit like this. Besides how will the filter work? Ban every social forum for a post having the word "porn" in it? Ban all sandbox games (You know you have seen a dick of props in a sandbox game before) ..

Too many terrible parents in the world.
The whole concept of content filter is ludicrous to me, because it means letting a third party pass judgement on what I personally may or may not be interested in. I don't leave Google's Safe Search permanently off because I want to find porn everywhere, I leave it off because I don't want put a dumb bot in charge of hiding information from me that a machine really isn't capable of evaluating accurately in the first place.
I like how you can block suicide and self harm. That's a really fanfuckingtastic idea.
I like how you can block suicide and self harm. That's a really fanfuckingtastic idea.
I think it's more intended for the pro-suicide/self harm sites. Although it may mean that help groups and stuff might get accidentally blocked, which could really be a problem.
Yes, perfectly fine for computer idjits while the rest of us struggle to find anything on the internet because it's blocked. Thank god it's not mandatory and you can opt out of this shit.
Not in China
Why not censor internet at all? Because it looks that it is what they are aiming for
What people want to see should be left up to the user, not the government. The bastards just want to filter, limit and control us. The internet is the last free place in the world.
I don't see what the big deal is, this just makes it super convenient for computer illiterate people to control what their kids can see.
There is absolutely no reason it should be on by default.
