My PC has been M.I.A for a few weeks because it won't boot up properly. I replaced the PSU as I thought that might be the problem, but still exactly the same reaction. When I plug the power cable in and switch the PSU on at the back it will turn on for about 4 seconds all by itself, and just turn back off again. I guess something must be tripping the power switch on the front panel but I just can't figure it out!
I tried unplugging the power connections to the GPU, HDD and optical drive but still the same thing. Tried unplugging all fans including CPU fan but no luck. I seriously can't figure it out.
I tried unplugging absolutely everything from the motherboard apart from the 24 pin power connector and i get the same response. This causes me to believe that it's the motherboard, should I replace it?
if you think its the power button have you tried shorting the power button header on the board with a screwdriver?
It's definitely not the power button because I get the same thing without the power button plugged in, just trips by itself.
yeah, its a fucked board
okay thanks, I'm going to make sure I can get a refund on my current one then order a new one.
