Hey guys, I was playing a game on my desktop earlier and it randomly shut off with no bang, sparks, smell, smoke or poof, just....off :/
Anyway I have taken it apart and being the computer lover that i am, I'm desperately trying to get It to work, but to no avail. It's weird because I tried different fuses in the plugs and different cables but still nothing and that little red LED to let me know that the motherboard is receiving power, lights up. I have my suspicions that the PSU is broken somehow and hopefully it's the only thing. When I do push the power button however I notice the CPU fan moves ever so slightly but hard to notice, as if the PSU cannot get enough power out when needed.
I have an old bastard ABIT KN9S motherboard and a Trust 570w PRO Dual fan (http://www.trust.com/15317)
The only reason I'm asking this instead of searching the net for a new PSU is just incase it's not my PSU :/
Other Specs:
AMD Athlon x64 3.0Ghz 6000+
3.5GB DDR2 RAM
ASUS EN9800GT 512MB
Thanks
Have you checked the capacitors on the motherboard etc?
It may be a symptom of bad caps (Capacitor Plague).
So when you press the on button, the fans start moving but stop a few seconds later?
If so, check your power supply by shorting it with a paperclip.

No the fans just move only a little and it's not really noticeable that they do move, and I'm not too comfortable with the paper clip trick :/

I doubt it's the capacitors tbh they all look fine.
No the fans just move only a little and it's not really noticeable that they do move
Maybe a power surge caused it? If the fans aren't moving, the motors could have gone. just a guess, though. :downs:

The computer does not actually power on at all even with everything disconnected internally and externally.
EDIT: I have found out something interesting, you know the 4 pin connector with the black and yellow cables when unplugged the pc comes on but not when it's in, wtf?!?!?!
Either the motherboard has somehow grounded itself on the case or the PSU is fucked. Check and make sure the motherboard is not touching the case (sans the stands it sits on) before taking a flash light and taking a look in the PSU.
Sounds like a PSU failure to me.

No, definitely not, if I build a computer I always insert red paper washers above and below the motherboard to ensure no shorting or grounding will occur.

Nope, with the 4pin 12v power connector disconnected, it powers up, and the PSU is fine as I tested it in another computer, but upon closer inspection to the capacitors, they do look like they are broken, as three of them look like there is a bump on them, so referring back to EpicExplosion's post, I think he's right and the capacitors are broken.
So at this conclusion, I now have an excuse to upgrade my PC a bit so I bought an ASUS AM3+ SABERTOOTH 990FX and a AMD Phenom II x4 3.4Ghz Processor and will eventually repair the motherboard for use as a secondary computer.
So thank you for all your help :)
