My friend wants a laptop and he has asked me to find him a good one.
His price range is $1000- $1400
the laptop needs:
great speakers
500gb hdd minimum
good battery life
15.6" or smaller screen
he wants the laptop to be able to "game and jam at the same time."
he does like to be play a lot of steam games on his older laptop so also take that into consideration.
any suggestions?

4GB DDR3

You can't get a good gaming laptop with good battery life. Not possible.

If he gets something with dual GPUs, then it's completely possible. My brother's UL50 has excellent battery life, though can press a button and be switched over to the discrete graphics and play video games quite well.

Bar those yeah. But they are usually less powerful
How about this Toshiba Satellite Intel Core i7-740QM 15.6" Laptop, 6GB/640GB/Blu-ray/Win 7/NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit $1315.00?

I got excited when I thought it said "looking for a friend" :saddowns:
On topic: Gaming, battery life, and low price don't really go together too well. What kind of battery life is he looking at?
