I was looking for something in the $200-300 range (USA).
Maybe something like this.

Any suggestions?
The 280X is significantly better than the 760 for 300$
If you want to spend less money, the 760 you picked out has 4GB vram instead of 2GB, and it's a waste of money on something that won't make a difference.
The 290 is $330 and its way better than both

That card is $430, not $330, and it's far above his budget.

It is far better, but it's overkill unless the OP plays above 1080p
Or you know get the Msi one and save a few bucks. Bought one and is really happy about it :)

Only $270
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'm really liking that 280X on amazon, especially since I already have prime.
One question though. My main reason for upgrading was so I could play watch dogs smoothly on a decent setting. Should I be more concerned about nVidia proprietary software, or is the difference negligible when it comes to this price bracket?

It's completely irrelevant at this price. NVidia partnered with ubisoft for watch_dogs, so they'll have more optimalisations at launch, but it won't take long to even out, and the equivalent GPU from nvidia(the 770) costs about 100$+ more than the 280X
The 290 was 330 when i posted it, i wouldnt have posted it otherwise. The sale ended. The 280x is barely better than the 280 which you can get for around $200

If your going for any version of the 280x the MSI one is the best.

Why is MSI the best? XFX is equally as good and has a lifetime warranty on their cards.

I bought this card after I went through two terrible Gigabyte 7970s and have had no issues since.
I've had a couple issues with XFX's coolers compared to other AMD brands such as Sapphire and HIS, but they're warranty is pure gold
