• Should a headset be silent when no audio is coming through? I'm getting a static or humming sound.

I'm hearing a static buzzing when no PC audio is playing. The headset in question is a USB & 3.5mm analog headset, the Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II Ear Force Kilo. I picked up this pair earlier in the week and can't say I was having this trouble before today, I didn't install any new software or configure any audio settings since. There are two ways I can receive audio depending on what option is set as my default playback device (right-click volume control in system tray -> Playback Devices): 1. through the "Realtek High Definition Audio" (analog jack) 2. through the "USB Audio Device" Volume through the analog jack option can be adjusted by a "game" volume control wheel & volume through the USB by a "chat" volume control wheel on an in-line controller. The "game" wheel produces the issue, the higher it is set the louder the issue. Only if I set my playback device to the USB option & turn the "game" wheel all the way down will the issue resolve & I am able to receive playback. The trouble is that I can then no longer adjust Teamspeak chat separate of in-game sound which I find very useful. OS volume levels, the microphone in-line controller on/off switch, and front or rear panel audio jacks have no effect. While I do hear a light bass hum with a much older and well used headset, the Creative HS-400, for the first few days I didn't have this issue with the new headset, certainly not this profound.
Yea it should, I use my turtle beach X12's and its completely silent when, well Im doing nothing
