Hopefully this means I can actually get past the beginning of the game now. I mean good god....I thought ninja gaiden was difficult. Dark Souls makes that look like a fucking cake walk.
I hope they don't make it too easy, I liked the difficulty of Dark Souls
I hope they don't make it too easy, I liked the difficulty of Dark Souls
I'm not asking for a lower difficulty. Hell, the difficulty was what made Dark Souls so popular. I just hope the game doesn't decide to throw my nuts into a grinder within the first 10 minutes like Dark Souls did.

10 minutes? Something's wrong if you can't kill the asylum demon, that doesn't even need simplifying. If you're talking about the "go up or down?" thing as soon as you leave the asylum then maybe I get what you mean.

The tediousness they're cutting out is excess travelling, you can warp between bonfires right from the start now.
If by tedious they mean I'm not running through the equivalent of New Londo for 2 days farming titanite slabs, great.

Ninja Gaiden is definitely more difficult than Dark Souls, since it requires great reflexes and it's a very fast game. Dark Souls can be adapted to quite easily, as a slow and methodical style of play is quite effective in almost any situation.
What I thought was tedious was Titanite grinding. Just let me buy chunks and slabs and I would be happy.
So less grinding and more warp-points; sounds like a good idea for an open-world RPG like Dark Souls.

I'm not sure what you're on about, Dark Souls is hard, but it's still "Babby's first hard game" in the end, it's just famous as hard because it went mainstream when hard games generally don't.
Ninja Gaiden Black is much, much harder than DS on NG+.

Ninja Gaiden Black isn't that hard either. The wonky controls can make it really annoying, but it's not butt frustratingly hard. I think Ninja Gaiden 2 vanilla for xbox 360 is harder than Ninja Gaiden Black. And even then, I think Devil May Cry series beats the 3D Ninja Gaiden games in difficulty.
Dark Souls just requires a lot more effort towards focus plus some patience than most other games and a lot of people hate that.
I think the hardest console game in years would be God Hand perhaps. I can't think of another game in the last two generations that required as much skills and reactions.
If you have the skills and patience to beat God Hand without the Yes Mam Kablam strategy you have my respect. Even on normal mode. And even using Yes Mam Kablam is still not an easy task, it still requires a lot of skill to beat the game.
Oh shit I forgot about Shinobi as well, that game is way harder than Ninja Gaiden.
That being said, if you have experience with hard games that don't have quick-save like Max Payne or something Dark Souls is not that bad. If you ever have trouble with Dark Souls all it takes is more focus, more patience, and maybe a new perspective on how you are playing the game, approach and execution is key in Dark Souls. It's why I think the Souls series is probably the best series of games in a fucking long ass time. I was also a massive buttmad idiot at one point in Dark Souls, but then I waited a week and played the game when I was less tired and more focused and I did just fine.
That mirror shield boss is so Dark Souls-ish I just can't believe it.
Good that they still have awesome imagination when it comes to bosses, literally my favorite thing with Dark Souls 1

Once you've reached them, of course.

This sounds fine. I'll probably avoid doing on the first play through just to be masochistic. It made me far more careful knowing I'd have to go to the last bonfire and trudge all the way back.

Bed of Chaos best boss
I think the grinding needs to be cut down, and some distance to bonfires.
I don't think that warping all the time forever is a good idea, though. Would make a lot of players less willing to explore.

I'm guessing you went to the graveyard first even when the crestfallen warrior told you to go the other way? Or did you try to fight the Asylum Demon when the game told you to run?

More shortcuts during the latter half of the game and getting the bonefire warp ability say, after Sens Fortress or maybe even after ringing both bells would have gone a long way to cut down the tedium.

The first time I played I went through the graveyard. Got halfway through the Catacombs before messaging a friend on Steam asking why enemies take so much damage. The funny part is I only died running back :v:

One bad apple in the basket.

AFAIK, even the devs themselves didn't think BoC was a good boss.

I think he would have been better if they actually tried to attack you and didn't have HOLES. It also would have been better if they went with the original idea.
