A few minutes ago there was this loud croaking/baying/howling noise outside my house, it's about 2:40am right now and I hear a noise similar to this every few months. This time it sounded very strained/pained though and it scared the hell out of me. There is a small wooded area outside my house but I'm pretty sure no foxes or anything live there (it's far too small.)
My cat took an interest and dashed out to go investigate the sound too :ohdear:
Help please, scared. What the fuck was this?
Well, apparently it's an animal of some sort.
Zombie attack.
Run for your life.
Get a gun. Kill whatever it is.
But seriously, get a flashlight, possibly a weapon (baseball bat, knife, whatever) and try to find what it is. Possibly tell police or animal control.
It's probably a stray dog, if it's a howling, Nothing to worry about man, just try to get to sleep.
I'm off to bed now too, g'night x

First time I heard one was late at night in the middle of a californian city.
Monthly basis appearances? It's a werewolf, and not the faggy twilight kind either. Dude, you're fucked.
Could be a frog, they tend to make odd noises at times, but with your description i have no fucking clue as to what is sounds like. croaking/howling etc doesn't help.
Could be a bullfrog. First time I heard one I thought it was an alien or something. They sound weird

It's hard to describe, try and imagine a sort of distressed, pained human call but a lot more drawn out and croaky.
Hang on. Let me see if I can find a bullfrog recording somewhere
It's probably a fox. Fun fact: a fox howling sounds like a woman being murdered.

Did it sound like that?
The frogs, not the kid,
Nah it wasn't the frogs. I thought it was a fox too at first but if it is, it sounded like it was in a lot of pain :ohdear:

Now that really does not help because human could mean male or female. High pitched? Low pitch?
I'd stick with a bullfrog anyhow. Those things make odd sounds all the time.
Ah, heres a better sounding one

We don't get bullfrogs in the U.K. We do however get red foxes, which meet the description perfectly.
No it sounded a lot more along the lines of a fox, just stressed and pained. It was drawn out for a long time as well.
Normally when I hear it, it's sort of a high pitched snickering sound that gets gradually louder then quieter (I'm guessing as it gets further away.)

Aye it was probably a fox in any case, still fucking horrifying to hear when you're in the house on your own at 2:30am :ohdear:
watch some porn
Did your cat come back?
Yup she's back on my bed now.
Well thats good.
Well I'll be. I can imagine that would of scared you.
I heard a fox cry like that in the forest across the road from where I was walking once. I'd never been so afraid in my life but now all is at ease for both of us. Jolly good old chap.
Nature can be scary.
Why is everyone scared of foxes? I've got bloody wolves near my house. Blasted things keep me awake at night sometimes.
there can only be one answer.
It is Penis Cupcake. Run. Run now.
Fuck, it's Slenderman
This thread reminds me of how I sometimes hear sound in the middle of the night that gives the impression, that someone's running a huge lawnmower.
I assume it's just Sunn O))) having a concert.
as far as we know, Slenderman is entirely silent.
