Hi everyone, I'm kind of new to larping but I've been to a couple and really enjoyed myself, so I'd like to take a step further and form a little group to go to an existing event.
The event is called The Vale (more information on the system can be found at the [URL="http://majesticoaklrp.co.uk/epages/203bd989-ae72-4051-ba54-f3929698e027.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/203bd989-ae72-4051-ba54-f3929698e027/Categories/%22Our%20Games%22/%22The%20Vale%22"]website[/URL]; it's a PvPvE LARP based in Staffordshire in the UK; events last from Friday to Sunday. Tickets cost £60, but if you're a student or unemployed you can get them for 10% off, and new players get another 10% off. I think the first event is next May, so there's plenty of time to sort everything out!
What I'd like to do is set up a group within the Northern Alliance faction. There are plenty of knightly houses and the traditional sorts of pseudo-medieval high fantasy groups, but I'd like to be a bit more original and go with a group based on Middle Eastern cultures, primary Persian and Ottoman, with muskets and swords. I'm making a couple of uniforms to issue - they're long velvet cloaks with a bit of decorative embroidery and some brass rivets, based on [URL="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/95/36/1a/95361a9e37ea33d72e8d553e5db426d3.jpg"]various[/URL] [URL="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/5b/70/0a/5b700aaddddc71c96ee609929059c0e8.jpg"]Middle[/URL] [URL="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/a0/8c/95/a08c95ff3953daabb95cb42bea6b2418.jpg"]Eastern[/URL] [URL="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/b7/df/7b/b7df7b3a2e98de85d31aa2010c34d464.jpg"]examples[/URL], so if you're interested I can make you one (for a nominal fee, like, £20 a pop). I'm also going to modify some cap guns so they look like muskets and they're safe for use in larp, so for £35 I can provide you with one).
We'll basically spend the weekend in-character as soldiers - marching, drill, guard duty, that sort of thing, and when we go out to fight we'll fight as a single musketeer company. We'll have a little camp within the main camp - the campsite rents out huge bell tents so we could all chip in for one of them (they're £80 each) so we can eat and sleep in-character; I've got some period camping equipment that I can use.

I've always been interested in LARPing, and Staffordshire isn't far from Manchester at all. I'm definitely interested.

I mean if you've never larped before this is a great introduction; you're getting your outfit and weapon for peanuts and you're with an established group, so it's a pretty good deal. I'll PM you with some more info at some point :)
