Well, what is it?
Better support for your hardware, improvements made to it. Good enough for you?
Sometimes they have optimized the code so that it takes up less resources and makes it run faster. Less errors, and more functions are some other reasons. It depends on what device the drivers are for. I updated the drivers for my mp3 player and now it transfers 5 times faster than it did before.
Sometimes, like for your graphics card, you need the new drivers to do things it already can do. Like not crash your game ect.
I remember when I first got my graphics card it could not run games like Doom 3 because the drivers for it would not let me, but over time because of updates I am able to play it and many other games now.
I just got slikroad, and it runs like shit. If I got updated Driver, will it improve? I have never updated before.

Drivers often make things run smoother. There is a major difference between PC's running DirectX 8.0, and DirectX 9.oC(assuming the computer supports both but is using the other, vicea versa). I noticed that if you turn down the physics, there is less gore.

Is it something I can do over night? Like, while its loading, I am sleeping.
To update a driver you just download a program and run it. So, yeah I guess you could do it while you sleep.
Does it require reinstalling the (In my case) Video card, to do it? Or is it like a patch for a game?
Does it require reinstalling the (In my case) Video card, to do it? Or is it like a patch for a game?
More like a patch for a game. What graphics card do you have?
nVidia GeForce FX 5500
What OS do you have? (Windows XP, 98, ect?)
nVidia GeForce FX 5500
That's way old, but then again I'm using 6600. Edit: I suggest ATI 9600.
What OS do you have? (Windows XP, 98, ect?)
XP SP2
I believe this is the thing you would need to download. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html I'm not entirely sure, so don't download it until someone with more computer smarts than I posts and says that's what you need.

Also, if updating a driver takes a night to complete, it's time to get a new computer. :p
It's kind of like this: Your video card is like your car, and the drivers are like gas that never runs out. If a newer gas comes out, it'll process more effeciently and can make your car go faster.

I think 1111 is better
