So I noticed that for no apparent reason my FPS in BC2 had dramatically dropped (this made no sense as I have installed no applications, drivers or patches) so I decided I would try installing the latest version of my GPU drivers. The latest version is Catalyst 10.6 for my Crossfire ATI 5770s on Windows 7 x64.
I downloaded the latest version from AMDs website, used the Add/Remove feature of Windows to remove the currently installed version, restarted, used DriverSweeper to remove any remnants left behind and then rebooted again.
Now when I boot my PC I am greeted by the following message:

This leads me to believe that something has fucked up, because something is obviously still running related to the drivers for me to get this message.
Now, when I try to run the installer for the newer drivers, I can run it fine but as soon as I choose the actual "Install" button the window closes and nothing ever happens. Great!
What the fuck can I do? I can't uninstall whatever is installed because it just isn't there in the list and driver sweeper find s nothing more to remove.
This is really pissing me off. Why can't AMD just employ some decent software coders. Fuck.

I opened up msconfig and found it was still running the CCC (even though I uninstalled it?), I followed the path of the file it was running and deleted the whole folder, rebooted, and tried again. But surprise surprise, it didn't work!
I am currently downloading an older version (10.4) to see if I can install that with success. If I end up having to reformat I'm gonna be fucking pissed.

I also decided to try downloading the latest version again, before installing the older ones and I was greeted with this piece of shit:

Wooooohooo! I get the same problem with older versions (10.4)
FUCK ATI.

Okay, the problem has been semi-fixed. But I still require help!
I decided to go to the folder in which the installer initially extracts the needed files and I found an application called "ATISetup.exe". This program runs in the command prompt so I opened it in there and ran it with the following modifiers (-Install -log c:\mysetup.log -output screen). These instructions forced the program to install the drivers, whilst making a logfile and displaying the progress inside the CMD window. After it had done this (successfully, I might add) it told me I should reboot.
After rebooting my PC is correctly using both monitors, and at the correct resolution. HOWEVER, I cannot access the Catalyst Control Center at all - neither by the system tray (it is not there :S), through the context menu from right clicking the desktop nor by the start menu icon. Any ideas on my next step?
well you could try installing catalyst only. I believe you can just download catalyst without any drivers.
That's a good idea, I'll try it now. Thanks for the reply.

Nope. Gives me this when I press the install button for just the CCC installation.

Okay, so I did the same thing as before by going into the extracted files folder and this time I ran "InstallManagerApp.exe". This got me slightly further but I got another error!

Ended up just having to reformat. Fuckin' thing sucks. Oh well, at least my PC is faster now..
Holy fuck I want to stab someone in the face. My fucking FPS in BC2 has gone down FUCKING MORE since before the reformat.
