So I wanted to set up Wake on LAN for cases where my lazy ass wants to play some In-Home Stereaming while not having to get up from the couch.
I turned on the necessary settings in UEFI (or is it still called BIOS even when it runs on UEFI?), downloaded some app from the Play Store that sent the packet to UDP 9, aaaaand it didn't work.
I thought my motherboard just didn't support it and those settings did something else (the lack of info about WOL on the manufacturer's page seemed to imply that was the case), but then by pure accident I was trying out Moonlight on my Android phone, clicked my PC and Wake on LAN worked from standby! So I guess Moonlight sends something different? How do I find out what exactly it sends, so that I can replicate it using a normal WOL app?
I would track the packet using this, but the Moonlight app sees my PC is online and doesn't send the packet.
Also, I'm really doubt the Moonlight app does something no other WOL app does, it's probably using some other widely known port, it's just I don't personally know what it is; so if any network-savvy people stumble upon this, maybe they'll know what I should do.
Thanks in advance!
Dig through your network interface settings in Windows, there's usually an option somewhere to enable wake on lan / magic packet that you have to set as well.

It might be right click on the adapter in device manager, then properties. I'm not at my computer right now :v:
Double check that you've got the right mac address when you're sending the packet

Thanks for the reply. The MAC address is correct.
I saw a few screenshots showing that some network chips put a setting in the device's parameters or something, but I don't really have that in my network card, here are all the WOL-related settings I found in the device's properties.
One thing's for sure, and that's the fact that it works through the Moonlight app

I've had systems where it doesn't work unless a BIOS update is applied. If your bios is really old, try upping it to a later version.

But it technically works, still, I have the latest version
