It's cute how they think they actually did a good job reimagining dmc.
I don't see how writing "STUPIDITY" on walls is satire.

you just don't get it
it's really deep
UGH

man! next you'll be telling me john carpenter's they live was a lousy satire!

I think it's funny how they're avoiding the fact that their satire is pretty much just They Live, except with Demons. And I don't just mean inspired, I mean entire concepts are just ripped from that movie.

i don't think they ripped concepts. i think there was definitely some inspiration. there was inspiration from heaps of great things in that game, they live, evil dead, the list goes on i'm sure. i don't see any plagiarism, and i don't see anything wrong with being inspired by the greats
i think way too many people are judging the game at face value because it's new and a reboot. ironically making them stupid, not the game.
so shakesperean
"alas, poor dante
I hadeth the bigger dick"

Dialogues are just awful, I really hope they asked some hobo to write it, otherwise shame on them. The story is awfully simple. The setting of "consumerism and corporations are evil, rebel" is just childish. This whole big brother conspiracy backstory is not original or interesting. Characters are very flat too, they kinda tried to develop them but writing is so terrible it doesn't really happen. I am not saying previous DMCs did not suffer from this, but if you're making a reboot you should actually make it good.
Not comparing to old games, combat and environments were neat. They really shot themselves in the foot by choosing to remake dmc. A new IP would've done them a lot more justice.
The fact that they act ignorant and can't admit their writing sucked only makes them look like jerks. Kinda like Dante.
I'm not saying that it's plagiarism, I'm just offended that they think their writing is so groundbreaking.

The artstyle looks great and the music is ok-ish, but the gameplay itself looks really REALLY fucking easy, too easy for a dmc game. I can imagine steamrolling through the game in maybe a couple of days and then never touching it again, like it's just another average game that'll be forgotten.

That actually looks like satire though. They don't just have BUY on a random wall everything there is placed according to what the building is. Such as CONFORM being on what looks like a radio station. Everything in DmC is something like having OBESITY written on a poster with a fat guy, It's like , yeah OK he's fat.
To me just look like the "corperations are evil" thing that comes from a 15 year old social-liberall anarchistic communist vegan revolutionary with as much tact and engaging you would expect from this person
It still seems to me that FP has gone out of it's way to hate this game
It still seems to me that FP has gone out of it's way to hate this game
Is there something wrong to hate it for perfectly valid reasons?
so shakesperean

i'm pretty sure the STORY is what's shakesperean, not the dialogue
i haven't beaten the game but it seems to be going that way
It still seems to me that FP has gone out of it's way to hate this game
By far, Facepunch is the place that seems to really have the biggest problem with the game literally everywhere else has loved it from what I've seen. My friends who have been big fans since the beginning love it, a large number of fans I've seen elsewhere online love it. I haven't played it because I've never been a big fan of the series to begin with, but most people who have really loved it from what I can tell. I've seen people starting it entirely expecting and wanting to hate it, then come out saying it might be the best in the series.

They probably missed Dante and Virgil high five-ing after giving someone an abortion

yes, shakespeare was known for writing characters who do total 180 personality flips at the end of the story and after a boring anticlimactic battle go "nah nah i'll see you again [del]spiderman[/del] dante" and retreat into post release DLC ending world

They pretty much completely ripped of They Live.
Cant think of any other movie that has the concept of They Live.
Its one thing if they just had demons controller the world and being hidden, but its another thing when thats happening, and they do the whole "They Live" propaganda shit.
Regardlesss, the game was complete shit other than visuals, which start to get really bad towards the end of the game themselves, the writing was so atrocious I was laughing, it was blowing my mind at every turn on how bad they can keep fucking up.

You've never heard of the term 'orwellian future' before?? they live is not exactly original either, as much as i love it

Actually, /v/ is by far the biggest source of hatred for the game right now.
Facepunch just seems to have a lot of people that go between it and here so we tend to take elements of culture and opinions from /v/.
The game seems likeut was targeting 13 year olds, I'd feel embarrassed playing it

I honestly never found Shakespeare to be that great.

It's more the whole "aliens/demons are behind big media corporations and they control humanity without us knowing" thing than the Orwellian future.
