100% do suggest reading it even though it's a meme now. It's not that long and it's free. Can't say this is a good article though.
Though Steam reviews and word-of-mouth alike might give you the impression that Doki Doki is the sort of game that hinges irrevocably on a number of Dark Turns that if spoiled will Ruin the Experience, the truth is that it’s far more clever than that.
I feel like it can ruin the experience, and it's annoying that this article kind of spoils it. You know something is going to happen but you don't know what, and that can really put you on edge until it happens. In this article they basically tell you and show you a screenshot of it. Great job.
that's what sucks about games like these getting popular. now everyone knows the surprise.
The article even has screenshots of spoilers already, which is pretty lame. I usually don't mind spoilers myself, and I think the game is still strong in its writing and pacing whether you're aware of the twist or not, but the huge surprise the first time is really effective and sets the tone better going blind.

Great job.
I feel like knowing anything past "there's a twist" is too much for games like this. That's all I knew going into it and I had a blast playing it, even with picking up on some of the foreshadowing it gave you I was still quite surprised with everything it did.
Was good. For anyone looking to kill a few hours and likes kawaii schoolgirl VNs... Do it. Go in blind, don't read this until the ride is over. All the rides.
lol and of course this shit is right there on the game's library page too under the recent news section, fuck pcgamer the whole point of the game is that you know SOMETHING is up, but not exactly what it is, or how it will show itself but i'm glad pcgamer decided to get one of their braindead writers to spoil shit even in the title that you literally CANNOT avoid seeing if you try and play the game through your steam library

Are there multiple routes for each girl or is it just one linear story?
Apparently the creator doesn't care. Maybe I was being harsh. I think I still kind of disagree with him, though. Even though the game doesn't really try to hide it's a horror game, it's still better experienced knowing as little as possible. It doesn't ruin the game, like knowing the twist doesn't ruin a truly good story- but dang, it sure would've been cool if you hadn't known that twist coming in, right?
As much as how stupid this article is, I can't even blame just them for this. Like they're just pissing in a sea of piss as far as this situation goes. First of all, you have the fact that this game is tagged as "Psychological Horror" on steam. Then the users reviewing it spoils it, this article under relevant news spoils it, then you have all the popular streamers on YouTube and Twitch posting their reactions to the "twist" in this game. jesus christ
Are there multiple routes for each girl or is it just one linear story?
[sp]AFAIK it plays off as a traditional dating sim where you can choose "routes" but every route ends with the same ending, overall it's a linear story[/sp]
I'm glad I played it before the unclean and filthy masses got their hands on such a masterpiece. [sp]Just wait until the clickbait game theory video[/sp]
If it weren't for 'psychological horror' tags, maybe these articles headlines, that warning when you launch the game, and finally myself spoiling some of it through TV Tropes - I wouldn't even end up interested.
Why yes, it is. Even if some ppl took all the effort they could to spoil themselves on a free, short game just to hate it with their guts because it's not actually a unique concept, or that anything meta is automatically garbage, the game still has more than that simple trick. It definitely is a hit or miss in many cases, but considering the length and the price of admission it's definitely worth it to at least check it out. But PCGamer is not the authority to spoil games nilly-willy, especially since this is actually a thing now:
lol and of course this shit is right there on the game's library page too under the recent news section, fuck pcgamer
I'm glad that they even used itallics to show how much they don't care about preserving the game's main theme at least confusing you slightly, but just go all out, because PCGamer's take on the subject is obviously superior and correct. I'm glad that the game's going to get more coverage, but this is a very high price to pay. I really hope that they'll at least try to get the news removed from the game's library page.
