Which engine are they using and will the game be available on Steam?

Still their modified Source branch. And most likely not because it's an EA game.

Thanks. I did read something about a possible Steam release when they were talking about Titanfall 2 some months ago.

It's published by EA, but Respawn has said multiple times that it could be on Steam if they wanted. But I guess they don't, because it's not and won't be.
Also too bad this game is a straight downgrade from the first.

In what ways specificly? I haven't followed T2 for a while but did play the first one.

Movement is a lot slower an heavier, including the wall running.
The height of your jumps and launches has been significantly reduced.
Rodeoing is now an automatic process where you pull out a Titan's energy cell, then throw grenades into the hole on subsequent rodeos.
Titans no longer have shields and their health bar no longer drains when they go critical (not so critical then).
Titans are now killstreak rewards. Technically they're point accumulation rewards but kills are the most common way of filling the bar. There's no longer a countdown to getting a Titan.
There's little Titan customisation, now you pick one of six Titan class and can choose 3 minor perks, such as warping in rather than falling, or starting with a 20% health boost.
The maps available in the network tests were also not very good. They were designed in such a way that wall running or travelling in a Titan was very cumbersome, it was almost better to run around like in an old Call of Duty game. There are also hilariously patronising "No Titan" signs all over the place on areas where Titans can't get into.
Basically if you go back and watch an old developer interview where they explain why they designed Titanfall they way they did and how modern games to it wrong, they're describing Titanfall 2 when talking about doing it wrong.

Oh also the grunts are just disposable cannon fodder that both teams have to kill, they're not on anyone's side.

I mean if they want their game to have significantly fewer sales on PC then that's their call.

We're still at the point where half the time in threads involving Origin or Uplay people just full-on go "well guess I'm not buying this" because they're too stubborn to use anything other than Steam
