bioware had a mass layoff recently
stanly woo who worked there for 11 years was one of them that got let go
They would have done a lot better by making a singleplayer RPG like KotOR 3 because that's how people play it anyways. They do their storyline and then they unsubscribe.
No need in having to maintain the high server costs just for that.
yeah, each day this game gets more bad news, I really think f2p is going to be implemented very soon
Whenever I see Old Republic in the news thread, I know it's going to be bad news.
bring back swg, I played it when I was younger and it was so fun fun

I hope Hamburger Helper is next.
Galaxy literally had more players.
its me or everything bioware released after Dragon Age 2 had some serious problem?
TOR would be a pretty great F2P game. I don't really want to pay monthly for it, but i'd still like to play it casually.
Kinda sucks how basically no mmo has a chance

Subscription based MMOs really don't have a chance. It's too expensive for most people and there isn't really a need for it anymore since bandwidth is dirt cheap.

I don't see how you can claim this with WoW still around.

I meant MMOs that aren't WoW.
as an F2P? sure I'd play it every now and again. I didn't think the game was bad, just nothing special, and not worth the monthly fee.

Welp everything after DA2 pretty much sucked, so that's your answer, right there.
I wish I hadn't bought it, really.
It was fun but there's no reason for me to pay $15 a month to have access to a videogame.
I'm not much of an MMO guy, I tried this because it sounded awesome, and then I realized I was subscribing to play a solo MMO.

People are realizing now what a terribly inconvenient the subscription pricing system is.
If you ever are busy one particular month or something then you end up basically wasting your money.
At least with the f2p system, you're paying on pace with how you play.

If your busy then you cancel your sub for a month. Not that difficult.
They should have made KoToR 3 instead. It would have sold just as well and there'd be no cost for running servers. They also woulnd't have the massive fan hate they have to deal with after fucking up DA2 and the end of ME3.

from zero punctuation:
"TOR is another mmo that's tossed into the maw of WoW and promptly torn into shreds"

My point is that you feel pressured to use the time you bought. Which sucks.
The hype was amazing and I was so close to pre-ordering the collector's edition. Glad I played the beta and realized it wasn't as great as I'd hoped.
I hate what they did to Revan. Seriously.

ABP had a pay-per-hour system. Pity the company folded, it would have been interesting to try. (Not that the game is worth paying for, anyway)

Problem isn't the model, it's the price. 15 dollars per month is REALLY unnecessary. Not to mention that in TOR's case, it was 60 bucks to buy also.
I would play this game if it was f2p. It wasn't bad I had some fun with it, but it wasn't fun enough for me to pay $15 a month for it

I can't understand subscription based games
I only buy games on steam sales, so I guess I may just be spoiled
