People care about the SP for this game?
And you totally do that with teaser trailers and gameplay trailers being filled with not much else then stupid bullshit drama (oh god I'm stuck, leave me guys! No wait, cut my leg off with a knife, hurry up!) and a lot of explosions (admittedly, the best one's I've ever seen in a game) and bullets coming out of various shooty things. That's totally how you "grow up" the story. Also, Russians being an enemy again, surely does show growing up. I guess all the brown people in the world had been killed in previous game and MOH:W so there's no one left besides Ruskies and Chinese, but no one wants to offend China.
If they had made the american soliders the enemies, it would be a grown up game. I'm so fucking tired of the evil vs good (USA) bullshit.
How to make us care about the characters: Bring back Bad Company as the SP.
If they had made the american soliders the enemies, it would be a grown up game. I'm so fucking tired of the evil vs good (USA) bullshit.
Why not make it an internal conflict? To me, that would seem more "grown up" just than Country A vs. Country B.
I only ever play the singleplayer on CoD/Battlefield because I hate the fanbase of both. Am I missing out on a lot? :suicide:
DICE has stated previously they dont want to be an battlefield factory but yet all they latest games have been only battlefield... want to grow up? then give us mirrors edge :V
trailers being filled with not much else then stupid bullshit drama (oh god I'm stuck, leave me guys!
I only ever play the singleplayer on CoD/Battlefield because I hate the fanbase of both. Am I missing out on a lot? :suicide:
Lol nope. Losing lots of quicktime events and rinse-and-repeat shooting.
If they had made the american soliders the enemies, it would be a grown up game. I'm so fucking tired of the evil vs good (USA) bullshit.
The industry's running out of conceptual enemies to shoot in the most popular genre of video games. Why's that happened, because the character we're playing are cardboard cut-outs. 'Murrican GI, saving the world since 1943 (not many games gone for WWI setting) not changing even a bit. It's like CoD's Captain Price, same shit, diffirent setting 60 years later. For once explore something diffirent. Some other nation (or even make it irrelevant), some other fighter, some other cause. Something that's not about saving the world. At this point, anything will work. If there's one thing Spec Ops:TL showed us, is that players will almost forgive the generic gameplay if you dare to explore diffirent theme. I don't want to see this discussion again. Besides, it's not the event itself that's bullshit. Its usage is. It's just another variation of an age-old "dramatic" trope, horribly mutilate a character to make player care.

Even Battlefield 2 had a Chinese faction and there is plenty of speculation that they'll be in this one as well.
It would have been more interesting to kill Americans instead of your standard arabs, russians or asians. Might be a good concept, far-right gets control and starts shit. Its more probable than Russia/China invading *-stan.
If they had made the american soliders the enemies, it would be a grown up game. I'm so fucking tired of the evil vs good (USA) bullshit.
It would be too controversial if the US was the primary enemy of the game, which is why many game devs avoid it.
It would be too controversial if the US was the primary enemy of the game, which is why many game devs avoid it.
Yup. KILLING OUR TROOPS HURRR Soccermoms, patriots and fox news would go nuts.
Lol nope. Losing lots of quicktime events and rinse-and-repeat shooting.
What? I don't recall ANY quicktime events in either CoD or BF's multiplayer games?
Not even, check out this bullshit:
WASHINGTON—Military bases across the U.S. have banned the sale of a new video game that lets a player pretend to be a Taliban fighter and "shoot" U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2010/09/08/military_bans_video_game_that_kills_us_troops/
Don't forget that adding "Fuck" in to the script every four lines makes the game "mature" and "grown up". I might just be cynical, but I don't think anything is going to change.
I don't think I would be trying to maintain clean language if I was on the front lines of a battle almost getting shot constantly.
I would.
Honestly, its just going to be the same horrible mess that Warfighter's story war.
I don't think I would be trying to maintain clean language if I was on the front lines of a battle almost getting shot constantly.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against swearing, It's just a pattern I've noticed in games to get a quick +18/M rating.
If they had made the american soliders the enemies, it would be a grown up game. I'm so fucking tired of the evil vs good (USA) bullshit.
arbitrarily doing something controversial is almost the polar opposite of growing up
What? I don't recall ANY quicktime events in either CoD or BF's multiplayer games?
Oh shir, more bad reading by me... Nvm
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against swearing, It's just a pattern I've noticed in games to get a quick +18/M rating.
Well in a game where it's not exactly out of place then I don't see the issue. I think it's more of how it's used vs just how much it's used. Bulletstorm is an example of that. It just swears for the hell of it and it doesn't really have a place and feels awkward after awhile.
Well... as much as I think any and all AAA modern shooter singleplayer experiences invariably end up being overexposed dubstep explosion-fests, I don't want them to stop trying. The potential is in there somewhere. So, good on you for trying.
It would be too controversial if the US was the primary enemy of the game, which is why many game devs avoid it.
Except you killed US troops in Spec Ops, MW2, Resident Evil ORC and Prototype and nobody said shit.
Except you killed US troops in Spec Ops, MW2, Resident Evil ORC and Prototype and nobody said shit.
none of those games are 'grown up games' either so lol
If they really want to make a "grown up" game, they should consider moving far away from the "Oorah, 'Merica, war is fun" route.
none of those games are 'grown up games' either so lol
What is a "grown up" game anyways? Rather what do you consider one to be?
