I thought it wasn't a true crime game? Like not taken the abandoned project over
Man, I was thinking long and hard about buying it but ultimately decided ought to. Now I've contributed to the failure :C
That sucks, the game itself is really good.
It's unfortunate. Nobody cares about the good games anymore. All people want are Call of Duty rehashes. Nobody want's the core singleplayer experience anymore.
I guess the renamed brand got people confused, or maybe people don't want to play in China.
I heard lots of good things about it, but I don't have as much time for games anymore, and my backlog is already huge.
Yeah I'll definitely buy it soon, it's a great little game from what I played of it.
If they were able to keep the True Crime name they would've gotten a lot more sales. I really never saw much advertisements for the game anyway.

Coupled with the fact that it came out the same day as Darksiders 2, which was also a major game release.
I think it has more to do with the fact that it's hard to appeal a very Asian inspired game to a western demographic.

Darksiders 2 didn't sell very well either, THQ are reporting a loss on that too.
The game is really good but honestly I have barely seen any advertising for it whatsoever. It was announced out of nowhere after pretty much everyone had lost hope for the original game it came from, then Square Enix failed to build up enough hype around it.

Pretty True. It just kind of "appeared".
If you're on the fence about this game guys, buy it. It really is a fun game.
Perhaps the unappealing name and failure to create hype for it is to blame..

I don't think the general demographic has changed a lot in size.
But the games are now much bigger, much more expensive, and need to reach a wider audience to make their production cost back. You still got a fair amount of nerds going through the meaty bits of their favorite games in internet forums and the like, but the average customer has changed to the guy who just picks up one of the big titles everyone else plays and enjoys it as a little piece of entertainment.
It's hard to drag in that demographic without losing the hardcore community or pulling the production cost to ridiculous heights so you can support varying degrees of complexity for different difficulty levels for example. All while the most hardcore of fanboys cry for the next console generation with better graphics, which will indubitably multiply production costs even more for merely superficial benefits, and force even more publishers to make decisions that reach an audience as broad as possible.
I really hope Kickstarter will keep exploding. Smaller niche projects with lower production cost and a tighter connection to the customer without much of a middle man involved seems like a great alternative to the stagnating parts of the AAA industry, and ideally a signal flare for big publishers that don't know what game ideas would have an audience.
I'm probably the only one that hated this game.

The only thing I kind of didn't like about it is the lack of replayability. Once I was done with the main storyline, it felt like there was nothing more to do.
The game needs tweaks there and there and could really use a challenge mode ala batman arkham city where you are put in some arena and you have to fight bad guys. The three or four fight clubs you can find around are quickly boring, despite the game's excellent fighting mechanics. The game could have really benefited from more variety in the enemies and added difficulty.
Its because nobody knew about it, they didn't advertise it well at all
Right under most peoples radar
I tried the demo and it was unplayable.
I couldn't move and menu spazzed the fuck out.

come on gaming crash
come on
Nah, sadly it's just THQ being THQ :(
It would have been awesome with co-op like GTA4 was, nothing better than driving around in a giant city running over innocent people with buddies.
Well that and kung-fu, kick your friends ass in hand to hand combat and laugh as he beats you IRL with hand to hand combat.
One of the main reasons I bought it was because I knew it wasn't going to sell very well and I felt sorry for the developers.
Fun game, interesting take on the open-world crime game, but I didn't even knew it existed until two months after it came out. It wasn't advertised well enough, which SE can blame themselves for.

They patched that

I think people have gotten burned by some games in the past so we move to cheap indie, or know-what-we're-getting blockbuster titles.
The sad thing is, it's probably the best game I've played all year.

What does this have to do with THQ?
