You might remember a while ago, i was looking for a budget £40 graphics card. You chose this for me:
http://www.dabs.com/products/gigabyte-ati-radeon-hd-4550-600mhz-512mb-ddr3-pci-express-dvi-5C2V.html
Now im looking for another budget card, this time for a maximum of £70 as a birthday present. Im not bothered what brand, i just want something far more capable than a HD4550. Im rubbish at this kind of stuff, so i'm asking facepunch to do it for me.

Actually, instead of being a tool. I decided to look around, is this a big jump from a HD4550, will i notice alot?

Yeah you will notice a big difference in newer games.
Would i actually be able to play a game like Just Cause 2 not on 800x600? But instead 1280x1024
Think so, post your other specs.
They RECOMMEND using a 5750, but i think you'll be fine, if your other specs are good.
Just Cause 2 system requirements (recommended):
Intel Core 2 Duo T7800 2,66GHz or AMD Phenom 8400 Triple-core.
Radeon 5750
3GB RAM
Or you could buy a 5750:http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-ati-radeon-hd-5750-700mhz-512mb-pci-e-2-0-hdmi-6B3P.html?q=xfx%205750
Specs:

It's a dell prebuilt with my own stuff on it that was laying around at work (the ram, the hard drives..)
The Core 2 may cause a little slow down, but it should be fine.
Yeah it should run fine at medium and 1280x1024... But next you wanna upgrade something; Buy a new CPU.
I can't get a quad core for £70 though, so a £69 card for now will be good enough. And i dont play crysis and all i want is atleast 30fps+, and the Core 2 Duo would be fine for that i reckon with a better graphics card.

Radeon 5750
This reminds me, ive been looking for a new desk top and saw one with a Radeon HD5450. My question is, is this card worth a damn?
Didn't like the comp's other specs, but I just wanted to know more about the card. Haven't heard much about 'em. The most graphically demanding game I have for comp is L4D2 anyway so Im not looking for much...
What does the comp cost? And you should be good of with a 5450 if you just want to play Left 4 dead 2.
And if you don't like the computers other specs, then don't buy it. Or, you shouldn't buy it for the card, you can get something that'll fit you better and cost less...
Can your motherboard XFIRE?? if you can just get another 4xxx card... if it cant, get http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-XFX-HD4650-XXX-PCI-E-20-%28x16%29-1000MHz-GDDR2-GPU-650MHz-320-Cores-DVI-I-D-Sub-HDTV
or if you can squize a ltitle more money out..
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-MSI-HD-4770-PCI-E-20%28x16%29-3200MHz-GDDR5-GPU-750MHz-640-Cores-2x-DVI-HDTV-CrossFireX
Can't seem to find the specifications on your motherboard, it seems like it's pretty old. So I guess you can't crossfire, since most older cards have more pci-slots instead of pci-e slots...
My mobo only has one pci-e slot and yes, my comp is kinda old. It was probably good when it was new though. Looking at the shipping date sticker on the side of it it actually says the 5th of December 2006..
Well, then crossfire isn't an option, so go for the card you wanted from the start or buy something like a 5750..
But is that card good? That i put in the op (second link) and how much is a 5750?
If your planning to play more demanding games, like Metro 2033 or Crysis(Yeah, still good ol' Crysis), then those 512 mb VRAM is going to hurt. I would buy the 5750 or 5770, but it isn't necessary, it's how much money you are willing to offer.

Thx man, really just wanted to know if the card was worth anything...like I said all I play is L4D1 & 2, TF2, Gmod and some other non-steam games like C&C. At least I have a decent minimum to go by.

Well i just want to play Just Cause 2 on my monitors native resolution, 1280x1024 instead of getting 13fps on it.
[editline]07:18PM[/editline]
And some other games aswell, maybe a nice fps boost in modern warfare 2. And maybe it will help me out with my fps in a top secret beta game i am not allowed to speak about or i will be murdered.
Well, you should achieve more than 30 FPS with either of those at that resolution, so it's your call, but I would still buy the 5750 just to be sure. Because maybe you would like to buy a new 23" screen, your all until; OMG MY GAME DROPPED TO FREAKING 20FPS!!! I don't say this would happen with a HD screen, 'cause i never played Just Cause 2, but ye' know, just in case.
MW2 should run smooth as a baby's ass.

Edit: OMG! 200 POSTS!
Top secret beta games doesn't run that well on 5750, but maybe^^
get a 48xx
Cant get a 5750 because my budget is £70 and the cheapest 5750 is £94.
Anyway wouldn't a 4xxx be worse than a 5xxx derlicious?

Depends, a 5770 is basically a 4870, so if the 4870 is cheaper you have to decide between cost and features. And ive currently got 2 4890's which out perform a 5870 and they were cheaper, but I dont get things like DX11.
So a higher number doesn't always = better.
If your mobo can support xfire get http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-XFX-HD4650-XXX-PCI-E-20-%28x16%29-1000MHz-GDDR2-GPU-650MHz-320-Cores-DVI-I-D-Sub-HDTV
if it cant get
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-Sapphire-HD-4670-PCI-E-20%28x16%29-1746MHz-GDDR3-GPU-750MHz-320Cores-DL-DVI-I-D-Sub-HDMI
Like i said derlicious, my mobo doesn't support crossfire..
Oh sorry, missed that.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169143 get this.
Ok, let me go over all of this again.
I want to run Just Cause 2 on a decent framerate at my monitors native resoution of 1280x1024. I have found this graphics card myself:
http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-ati-radeon-5670-hd-775mhz-512mb-pci-express-hdmi-6KNH.html?refs=52400000
And other people found these ones:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-Sapphire-HD-4670-PCI-E-20%28x16%29-1746MHz-GDDR3-GPU-750MHz-320Cores-DL-DVI-I-D-Sub-HDMI

Which one is better?
Hello
I have a AMD Athlon x2 4200+ (2.2ghz x2 ), 3GB RAM , 450 W PSU
and a (sapphire vapor-x) HD 5750 ... I had no problems with it .. i can play all games on MAX settings w/o problems :) .. And the card has also low temps ..
at 0% load (idle) the temps are at 33 - 35°C ... at 100% load .. 55 - 65°C ..
Also it has dx11 support :O
So imo you should get a 5750 .. or a 5770 (depends on ur psu)
would u mind posting what psu u have ? How much Watt and 12v rails
either the 9800GT or the 5670..
Check out some benchmarks and stuff
