I was wondering how I could reinstall windows 7 on my laptop. Is there any system utility to achieve this? Do they still sell Win 7 in stores? Or will I have to get it off of ebay?
What model is your laptop? There's a good probability it has a built-in system format tool that you could use for a fresh start.
It's an hp dv6
1. get an ISO file with the same windows version as yours from here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/ 2. Burn ISO to DVD, or onto an USB Drive using this utility: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool 3. Boot from CD/DVD 4. Install

i have a similar laptop as you, you are going to need to get the network drivers from the HP website. What model of DV6?
i have a similar laptop as you, you are going to need to get the network drivers from the HP website. What model of DV6?
I'm not completely sure but it has an AMD Turion dual core processor. Would there be any other drivers I should install also?
You should install from the HP Recovery Manager in the future, it will have all the drivers for your laptop pre-installed.
You should install from the HP Recovery Manager in the future, it will have all the drivers for your laptop pre-installed.
It also installs all the crapware too and wipes your hard drives, so no avoid it at all cost. You can usually find the laptop model in the BIOS main summary page.
That's not that difficult to deal with though.
It's a lot easier and much cleaner if you install Windows clean off of an official disk and save the drivers elsewhere. You also don't have to back up your personal files every single time since you can just leave them in another partition and not worrying about that partition getting deleted.

i still dont think the average person goes out to buy a dv6 and his first thought is "man i had better partition this fucker"
