I remember when the first GoW came out and that was pretty much one of the main games everyone talked about. Now it is kinda meh and no one really seems to care about it.
I heard nothing but bad shit about Judgments MP.. I personally played 1 and 3's MP but then sold my Xbox so never got to play it myself. I would love a similar game, maybe cross platform or what not, I really loved the wall bouncing etc, extremely fun.
What is it? at 3? with a game like that, 3 is really all you need.
Gears 1 and 2 were really great, the sequels are pretty much garbage except for the horde mode.

Gears of War did nothing special, but it simply did everything really really well. Sure when looking back after a few years it's meh, but there's very few titles that retain their strength after a few years.
Gears 1 and 2 were really great, the sequels are pretty much garbage except for the horde mode.
3 was also fun, problem it had is that there was basically nothing it could add without being completely over the top.
4, Judgment is 4.
Technically not, since it was a prequel.
3 was also fun, problem it had is that there was basically nothing it could add without being completely over the top.
The campaign was atrocious, the dialogues got worse. The action was nonstop without any atmospheric moments. The level design was so bad and heavily restricted. The glowing locusts are lame enemies. Overall there was not a single good thing about it. GoW 1 was atmospheric and dark, it had cool locations and tough fights. The missions were pretty neat, especially the one with the Kyrill. It just had better dialogues and a good atmosphere. You were constantly alone surrounded by creepy enemies and monsters. Making it feel like a hopeless fight. It was really enjoyable. GoW 2 added a nice touch by adding a lot more military warfare, this huge operation felt really refreshing instead of the lone squad thing of GoW1. The missions were great aswell and the story was decent enough. It was really great fun, the new horde mode was also great. There was enough variation in everything and they made the grahpics look more colorful. Gears of War doesn't have a good story and amazing dialogue but I think that Gears 1 and 2 had pretty cool dialogues and a nice setting until they butchered everything in the sequels. They act to much like tough guys and the overthetop action isn't really helping much. I thought that Gears 1 and 2 always had a good mixture of both without overdoing it.
Maybe take it more gritty, I don't know,
holy shit what
Did anyone actually care about the last gow I thought it was still being made until like 2 weeks ago
GoW 3 was a bit of a disappointment for me, with the story leaving a ton of unanswered questions and that fucking sawed-off shotgun in multiplayer that took them a while to balance.
Technically not, since it was a prequel.
Devil May Cry 3 is a prequel. Do I count that as #1? [editline]1st November 2013[/editline]
Did anyone actually care about the last gow I thought it was still being made until like 2 weeks ago
Nope. All of my friends (including me) loved GoW but I never got Judgement. My friends got Judgement and the first thing they told me was it's a piece of shit.
holy shit what
The graphics we're gritty, but no characters were that fleshed out, the story and dialogue were lacking, so no amount of gritty textures ever convinced me it was the gritty game I'd heard so much about.
I didn't mind the GoW games. GoW was the game I bought with my 360 and I had a lot of fun with it, a neat story and the multiplayer was a lot of fun and pretty new to me a the time, considering I was used to Halo 2 as my only multiplayer shooter. Had a lot of fun with the rest, excluding Judgement, which I skipped because all of the reviewers and my friends said it was garbage.
Another series zombified by Microsoft, it ran its course after Gears 3.
There is so much unexplored story in the books that isn't represented in the game.
The graphics we're gritty, but no characters were that fleshed out, the story and dialogue were lacking, so no amount of gritty textures ever convinced me it was the gritty game I'd heard so much about.
a gritty reboot is usually just giving everybody an angsty backstory and handing the job of character redesign to rob liefeld the series could use a refresh in the sense that you expand on the universe's lore. Could be visiting a different period in time and focusing on a different conflict than the endless zerg of locusts, could even be before genetic enhancement created meatheaded bullet sponge technology, could even be a different gameplay style like spec ops squad stuff instead of "charge at them with your chainsaw"
The "On 360" part really makes me think they are going to still release a fuckton of GoW games on the XBone.
holy shit what
more beach/desert levels confirmed
I didn't even know there was a 3 & 4 :v:
holy shit what
I think the only gritty and dark Gears is the first one and some parts in the second one. Now it's mostly "shoot everything, drop silly one liners and do crazy stunts, we're awesome!" kind of atmosphere. There is no threat or anything particular dark about it.

I loved all three of Gears of Wars. There a great trilogy. GoW2 MP was the worst then when they did the 3rd beta mp it fixed EVERYTHING and made one of the best MP ive played. Judgement sucked. Story was alright but MP was not the same.
I remember playing GoW2 a lot back in my Xbox 360 days. Playing co-op campaign + horde mode was the best.
I only played GoW 1 and it think it was pretty good. MP and all.

Guardian was a fantastic game mode that they for some reason took out of GoW 3, but then just ended up adding in later. Of Course GoW3 MP got ruined for me when they decided to make so you could only play on the good servers if you bought all the DLC.
I have a Gears of War 3 edition 360 and haven't played GoW3 until a year after I had it. Played about four matches then put it away. Bundle was $280, cheaper and came with more than the normal $300 bundle.
That's funny microsoft considering your milking the shit out of Halo.
