• Graphics Cards, 5850 1GB or 2GB

So far I have an i7 920, EVGA Tri-SLI x58, 6GB DDR3. For my next build I'm picking out a new card. So far I've narrowed it down to the: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102881 & http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102889 One is 1GB the other is 2GB, why they are the same price I don't know, but I think 2GB will be good for future games. This is my first time going with ATI, I've been an nVidia fanboy(ish) all of my life, but their new cards seem to get a little warm. What are your opinions?
1gb
If they are the same price I don't see why you would go for 1GB Wait there are 5850s for $300, pick one of these and save yourself some money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150491&cm_re=5850-_-14-150-491-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125318&cm_re=5850-_-14-125-318-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150477&cm_re=5850-_-14-150-477-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129141&cm_re=5850-_-14-129-141-_-Product
Well they are the same price, so I'll get the 2GB unless there is something I don't know about, or should I just shell out $30 more and get the 5870? There isn't too much of a difference in the benches between the two though.

However, you can overclock the 5870 to perform even better. Anyways, if you are buying a 5850, then don't get the 2GB one. It's not really worth it for almost the price of a 5870. Buy one of them in the links I provided. Also maybe consider a 470 - I didn't really look at benchmarks, but I heard that it's better than the 5850, and for $350, maybe it's something that you might want to check out.
The 470 doesn't perform a ton better than a 5850, and you can get a 5850 for about $300.
gtx470 do better in dicks 11 though
gtx470 do better in dicks 11 though
ye and best benchmarks to use is the ones from here http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,743498/Geforce-GTX-480-and-GTX-470-reviewed-Fermi-performance-benchmarks/Reviews/?page=11 as they aren't stupid and have the CPU overclocked.
If you're set on buying a 5850, get the 1GB from any of the one's that Jaehead had linked.
I've decided to do this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150476&cm_re=5870-_-14-150-476-_-Product
I would have chosen the Gigabyte one, but hey

aw come on man the 470 is way cool
There's a really good chance that you can overclock a 5850 to 5870 speeds.
I don't know why people keep spouting this nonsense. Even if you clock a 5850 at 850 MHz, it won't make up for the lack of shaders (1440 vs. 1600) and won't perform as good as a 5870 will.
aw come on man the 470 is way cool
Power ravenous blast furnace that performs about the same as a 5800 series card? What's so good about it.
Depends on resolution if you have a huge ass resolution thats above 3 monitors than get 2gb, but I doubt you do so get the normal 1GB one.
