Clearly, the remove option is grayed out.
Yes, I'm running as administrator.
Yes, I shift+right-clicked the WMP icon and clicked "Run as administrator".
Yes, I've Googled for a solution, but only got solutions that work for WMP 11.
Yes, I've looked for an entry in the remove programs list - nothing.
Am I missing something so blatantly obvious that it requires redundancy in emphasizing the obviousness-ness of, redundantly?
Right now, I'm poking around in the registry for a fix.
go to wmp directory (probably in program files) and delete the plugin.
Disable UAC and try?

This does not affect the WMP interface, it leaves the visualizations link intact.

This doesn't work either, it appears that the problem is that WMP is not programmed to elevate UAC or whatever they call it.
oh wait so you already have it uninstalled? if so reinstall it and then uninstall it.
If you mean to ask if the file is deleted and if the file being missing is the cause of my inability to remove the plug-in, yes, I've taken that into consideration.
I don't think it's possible to remove them, UAC enabled or otherwise. My WMP 12 doesn't allow me to remove any visualisations either. Is there a specific reason why you need to remove these?
Because they fucking blow and I don't like shit to be blowing while they are in the state of being on my computer. :v:
Okay, I installed sysinternal's process monitor and have found the offending plug-ins registry entries and classids. I'm going to delete shit without making backups, because I hate shit that blows like that like that. :smug:

Success!
Since I had never rebooted my computer, the registries never migrated into the root of the hive.
So, I just deleted
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Objects\Effects\*Name of shitty plug-in*
Where Wow6432Node will probably be random from computer to computer.
Now, off to delete the residual classes!

Keywords for Google so the sorry sods that have this problem can find it:
windows 7 remove wmp 12 plugins uninstall windows media player 12 plugins
or they could just go to this page and see how you did it instead of searching google.
