Building a gaming PC. Is it worth spending $100 more to get the i7 2600K? Already have the EVGAP67FTW MOBO, 8GBVengeancem, getting a GTX 570 or 580. Thanks.
Not sure if you need Vengeance ram, honestly almost any 8GB of DDR3 RAM ($80) would work fine You only need an i7 if you know you're going to need it. It does not affect games, because games do not (generally) use hyperthreading.
I already own the ram. I already own the i5 2500K as well. Just seeing if i should swap it out for the i7. Pretty much playing games is the only purpose for this PC. Some photoshop work, but nothing intense.
No.
Thanks guys!
No problem, buddy.
Put the $100 that you save toward the graphics card. 2600k & $100 less on graphics card < 2500k & $100 more on graphics card
the i7 future proofs your pc a little more, but it's really up to you
the i7 future proofs your pc a little more, but it's really up to you
Then he'd better wait for Ivy Bridge
If he waits for new stuff to come he'll never upgrade lol..
the i7 future proofs your pc a little more, but it's really up to you
Best future proofing is saving money in the bank. £100 will fetch you more power next year than jumping up to the next tier of components now.
you would be better off putting that $100 towards a windows SSD I MEAN AN SSD FOR JUST INSTALLING WINDOWS ON
