If you're going to post, "shit bro i come to fast threads to laugh, not to feel bad" then don't read this. I don't want to hear it.
A few weeks back, my dog Bernie got pretty sick. He became lazier and skinnier as time went on, I checked him up at the vet then, had him blood tested and got some x-rays, but all the results for cancer went out negative.
A few weeks passed and everything seems to be alright, he's acting a bit normal again.
I come home from work a few days later, maybe five or six, and his face is reaally droopy. I immediately get concerned and phone up the vet again, I bring him down, and have him x-rayed. The vet comes out of the room from what seems like an hour of x-rays, she has bad news...
My dog Bernie tested for cancer in his lymph-nodes, one lung, his liver, his spleen, and it was spreading throughout his body at an alarming rate. The vet said he was too late in the cancer cycle to help. I bring him to an oncology center anyways. They expect a week more left of life.
He gets slower, weaker, he lost 32 pounds in a week, I nicknamed him "Fat-Man" before he was diagnosed. I stay with him for at least an hour just petting him and feeling sad for him until he gets concerned and wants no more attention, I try to give him some good food for his final days, he's not interested in pizza or dog treats any longer, just water.
Last night, I tried to get him inside, he wouldn't budge, he was lying next to the side of my house. He knew his time was coming, and he didn't want to upset anyone. I lay with him out there for a while, in the dark. He didn't know it was his best friend until i shined the light on my face. I go inside after he tried to go to sleep, he wanted to be alone on his last night on Earth. I say my goodbyes.
I wake up at about 8 this morning, he passed away in his sleep.
R.I.P. Bernie "Fat-Man" Phelan, you were the greatest dog I knew.
The picture is Bernie, about a year ago.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but I felt like I needed to say something for him.
You deserve more than a thread in a forum called "Bullshit", I'll miss you, Fat-Man.

you keep posting that.
Also OP I'm sorry for your loss. Dog's are great friends and it's like losing a family member.
Twice, but that doesn't make it hat any less relevant.

I wrote in the beginning, if you're going to hate because I had something to say about my best friend, don't post it in here because I'm not in the mood for shit.
One thread isn't going to make a difference amid the other threads that get posted here.

That was fucking horrible for a first post here. Have you no heart? OP just lost his best friend and then you're a fucking smartass about it. Great job.
OP, I feel for you. Hope you get over your loss of Bernie, he looked like an awesome dog. I'm trying to get some good years with my old Golden Retriever Charlie, he's 10 years old pretty soon.
EDIT
Thanks, Autumn. Damn, some people just have to snipe and be a smartass about it.
sorry to hear that
he was a bernese mountain dog right? i love those dogs so much
I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, OP. I've lost pets in the past, and it is really sad. Just recently I lost my 5 year old cat to feline leukemia. It was pretty sad. He was actually a kitten from the first litter my cats had, and his mother had died the year before from what we can assume may have been the same illness. His father is still around and isn't sick, and we have a new female and a son from their litter, but it isn't entirely the same. Best of luck to you, OP. I hope you get better soon.
Best wishes for you. I know it's really hard to lose a loved pet.

Yeah he was a Bernese, such a mellow tempered dog.

Oh that sucks, I'm sorry. My aunt's cat died from the same thing at 4 I think.

Thank you guys.
[sp]I feel bad if I don't thank everyone, I'll try to do as much as I can. =\[/sp]
sorry about your loss, I remember when I lost my first pet(a cat) I was 5, i was outside and i saw it get run over by some dickhead, he never stopped.
:(
What kind of swiss mountain dog was he? I rather like the ones with the longish fur (not that I'm looking to get a dog, just curious). Was he a Bernese like Autumn said?

Yeah he was a Bernese Mountain dog. The only flaw I had with him is his short life expectancy, he was only four. =\
That's the price you have to pay for a great friend, I guess...

Oh wow, that sucks. I'm sorry man.
Only 4? That's really sad, I would think the breed as a whole would have a longer expectancy than that. Sorry he was taken away too soon.
Sorry for your loss.
He spent his last few hours with the knowledge that someone loved and cared for him, and there's nothing more you can do than that. And by the sounds of things he went painlessly and peacefully in his sleep.
Hell, if I was to get out off this mortal coil, that's the way to do it
Sorry to hear that bud, I know how hard it is to lose a pet :saddowns:
My sister's dog just died the other day... I loved him..
We don't have a cause for his death but I feel for ya man
My bad, I thought this was about the GOW character.
I was gonna get mad over spoilers :P
I feel sorry for you man. It's probably pretty damn painful to lose such a good pet. I have a bird (a parrot), we all see him as a family member and I don't want to imagine what it'll be like losing him.
You have my sympathy, I feel sorry for you.
I'm so sorry for your lost :( <3
May Bernie rest in peace <3
I fucking LOVE animals.
I'm sorry. Good luck.
R.I.P indeed
I'm sorry for your loss.
I have a 12 year old Belgian Shepherd and he's pretty old and frail at the moment so I know what to expect soon. Dogs are fantastic friends, it's horrible that they don't last so long in comparisson to humans.
PS: I love Bernese mountain dogs. Always wanted to have one but their short life expectancy is a downside for me. I get too attached to my pets. Again, really sorry for your loss. Bernie sounded like a really good pet and friend :(
