Imagine caring this much about what other people do with their money.
Also if you actually read the OP you would realize what is what is being sold here isn't a game but a set of resources with a license allowing them to used for commercial use (Something that doesn't usually come cheap in the realm of commissioned artwork I might add.)
To The Moon
to be fair, from what I know, to the moon doesn't exactly use stock RPG maker stuff. It's like game maker studio, there's a few gems but most of it is shit.
there are a few games that seem to actually do that, use just a bunch of the stock images and yet they're sold
"Authentic" 8 bit shouldn't even be a selling point anyways, it can be fun but there are INFINITELY more creative things to do than that.

hey buy whatever you want
i just feel like unless its an exception game, it requires some serious lack of care to buy something like that
In this age, I wouldn't dare buy an RPG maker game considering there are free alternatives that are better and even cheap paid games which are just top notch. Take FTL for example.

You won't find me disagreeing with the fact that the vast majority of RPG Maker games are absolute garbage, because its true.
These resource packs however take a significant amount of time and effort to create (Significantly more effort than this http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1380575).
This pack has actually been teased for like 6 or so months and was just released last week.
RPG Maker wasn't really that bad, but paying for a sprite sheet is stupid.

There are some pretty good ones out there that use pretty basic stuff.
I wouldn't pay $20 for them, but maybe 5-10 for some.
So it's basically like buying a plug-in for an audio desk.
You guys act like this shit is supposed to be cheap.
Melodyne, the auto-tune plug-in for audio, ranges from $300 to $600. Don't bitch at shit you don't know about.

This is the same concept only for a game creator.

Actually, there are some pretty high quality rpg maker games, heck one which I played had a timed blocking and a real time 1 on 1 combat system.
Basically you had to block at certain times, like just before an enemies attack, else the block will run out before your next turn even comes around. It had a leveling system that was an emulation of demon souls(or dark souls 2), where you had to go to a person to level up one stat, your health, or your mp for a certain amount of gold. It even had field enemies which chased after you and you could dodge.
And guess what it was even a porn game with all of these elements with around 3 hours of actual gameplay in which I skipped all the text in because it was in Japanese, and I still had fun.
It is all about effort, if a dev doesn't put much into it, you don't get very much out of it. Heck, i find it kind of hilarious that the biggest and most complex rpgmaker games end up being porn.

If only Violated Heroine were translated...
If only Violated Heroine were translated...
That's the one I was referring to in that line, and there have been several on and off translation projects of it.
The one that was referred to in the rest of it is called the demons kingdom, much smaller but has videos.
To The Moon
You could watch To The Moon on Youtube and it wouldn't make a difference, To the Moon has almost no gameplay besides a simple tile matching puzzle, walking around and talking to people.

What if someone just wants to play something like to the moon?
The question was if anyone buys a good quality rpg maker game where is this LOL NOT A GAME shit relevant to the discussion?

It's about the story, not the gameplay.
I always wanted to make an RPG, but then Tales of the Drunken Paladin basically did I wanted to do so I bought the new Xbox instead
