Hello everybody. A used game shop wanted to sell me a used PSP v3000 to me for $80. I wanted to use it as retro gaming emulator machine. Is it worth the price?
my dad bought one and then never used it
my dad bought one and then never used it
Yeah I bought a 2000, used it a few times, and never touched it again
no
star wars and god of war is fun as fuck tbh
are they 80$+ worth it? I don't know. They're good games though. I liked them.
I got my PSP for $50, and has mostly been used as a music player. It's a lot easier for me to manage music, since I don't have to deal with programs like iTunes undoing my entire playlist for some odd reason. It's all in Windows Explorer, where I can add or remove music pretty quickly, and make new folders for separate playlists/albums. With the 32GB card, I can pretty much add as much music as I please.
Should I get PS Vita instead?

Yeah, it can play most of the PSP games on the PS store but with a way better screen and it has Persona 4 Golden which is basically THE killer app (haven't used that phrase for at least a decade, but that's what it is)
Definitely not. I bought a PSP-3000 for $80 back in 2009, and that's when it was still popular.
I guess I just can use one of those Sony smartphone with their speedy heatstove processors to emulate. I'll be missing the clicky buttons though.
If Sony were smart, they would have made a combo of smartphone with gaming device. THAT would gave Nintendo a run for their money.

They made this but I don't think it was that popular

But it's CPU is only 1GHz

The PSP was clocked at 333MHz..
I have a pink nearly mint PSP 3000 if you want it, just cover shipping and handling. Alternatively, hand-make one out of a Raspberry Pi.
Thanks a million, but the distance between us is too great.
Alas
You can install custom firmware on it and use it for emulators and such, as a emulator it is fantastic because of its controls but not sure if you want to spent 80$ on a emulator device.
Any other gaming smartphones like Maddog suggested? http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_play-3608.php
If the specs are near that of a Xperia Z series (2GHz processors, >13megapixel camera), I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
You could just buy some controller accessory for your phone.
something like this seems really good if you own a controller

But I guess it's not very portable.
That's only a clip for the dualshock 4, and IIRC it only works on xperia phones and for ps4 streaming, nothing else. If you wanted to get one of these either get a moga or a razer serval. There's also the shield portable, but the thing's been out of stock for a while and it's kinda expensive / uncommon to find, but IMO it's the best thing for emulators and such that's avaliable.

The DS4 controller actually works great on Android for emulators and such.

But is it possible to use without rooting and such? I have an xperia but since I couldn't find any info about wether it works on anything or only ps4 streaming I just went for a serval. I found a shield portable not long ago and moved to that, though.

Yeah it needs to be rooted as far as i know, it should work on any Android device (which is rooted)
For bluetooth controller, I have this.

Works out of the box wihtout rooting. But bluetooths have delays. It often means life or death in action games, like Megaman Zero.
Yeah PS3 and PS4 controller.
Damn son, I found this:
Playstation phone we never had. Need to import.

1.7 ghz cpu, 3000mah battery, new android os
nah not really worth it imho.
I use my PSP 3000 as a ps1 emulator. I love it but wouldn't pay 80 for it now.
Buy one off of craigslist or kijiji. Not worth it for that much. VITA's are way better for their money you can mod the fuck out of it currently.
I've got my PSP 1000 in 2007 or 08 and we've got it used for 80€ at the time. The psp is a great thing, but now in 2016 it's not worth the $80, unless it looks like new. Also, why not just go ahead and use the emulator? It may not be perfectly accurate but constantly copying games around isn't really fun, especially not with a 4gb card like I have. But tbh the psp was the best thing I could have at the time that wasn't a laptop, had a webbrowser and a music player which kept me busy for entire nights.
why the hell would you buy a psp for $80? That's a shitload of money for such an obsolete device
I will admit that the PSP is a sexy device, but.. come on get real dude.
You can pick up a brand new android emulator gamepad for like $100 and it'll do everything better.
Perhaps keep the money and buy a tablet like the Nvidia Shield or a other device that could run emulators, then get a separate bluetooth controller and presto
