• Halo 1 animation problem in Windows 7

The other day I tried to play Halo 1 on Windows 7. It installed all right, but in game all of the player animations and npc movements were screwed up, like they were running at about 10fps. The game itself was v-synced and running fine at 60fps, which I could tell because I could move my view around smoothly. Compatibility mode made no difference, and google had nothing to say. Now I know how much this community looooooves Halo, but there must be some people here who play it occasionally. Anyone else run into this problem or have a suggestion to fix it? Specs: Win 7 RC x64 E8400 8800GT with latest drivers
You could try reinstalling the game. Are you running the RC?
Tried reinstalling several times, with and without compatibility. Specs edited into OP.
Hm. I know Halo 1 has a bit of a problem with being run at 60 FPS (since everything ends up animating at 30 FPS anyway), try setting it to 30 FPS and see if the animations are any noticable.

Could you get a screenshot/video?
It may be because it was ported to the PC fairly lousily. I never really bothered with the Campaign mode on it, I just liked playing online, but I tried it on my new computer which can run stuff like Ghostbusters fairly well (trust me, that's really good.) and I only got like, 10fps in a match. I'd suggest to lower the settings a bit from what they're at currently. Maybe it's having trouble running on your computer.
Could you get a screenshot/video?
Well, I seem to have found a solution: record a video with fraps :geno: I mean that literally, the problem was there, then it was gone when I started recording, then it came back after I stopped. WTF! That still happened to me after I had the patches. It's just something with the servers.

[editline]10:49AM[/editline] Well this is just weird, I turned all the settings back up to high one at a time to see if I could reproduce the problem, and now it works fine with everything except v-sync. I'm at the same settings as in this post:
Just tried this, it did seem to improve the animations slightly but they're still quite jerky when viewed from certain angles, for example looking at a running soldier from the side.
but it works now. I don't know what fixed it, but anyway thanks.
