This is a new build for a friend of mine, who asked me to post. This is his (and my) first time building a PC from scratch. We are located in the USA. The build will be used for gaming, as stated in the title. He has a budget of around $2000, and will be reusing the Optical Drives (BlueRay and DvD) and Hard Drive. He prefers an Intel CPU and Nvidia cards. His desired wishlist is as follows: Case/Tower Power Supply Motherboard CPU/Processor CPU Fan Thermal Compound Memory(2x) Graphics Card Hard Drive (2nd) How do you think it will run together, and what are some changes that should or need to be made? Once again, 1st time making a build from scratch, any advice would be appreciated.
That's a ricer ass case if I've ever seen one.. He doesn't need an i7, get a 2500k He doesn't need 8GB ram Get a NH-D14 Spinny harddrives suck, get an SSD if his budget is this high.. Get a Z68 motherboad
HAF X is nice but don't get the nvidia version I mean look at it that's nasty that looks like a giant booger.
For the case, he was looking at the regular HAF 942 but chose the Nvidia over just for the green. Is it not a good case? And for the SSD, they are pretty expensive for a small amount of space.
It's a great case but a regular one is $30 cheaper with the discount, promo code, and rebate, and I mean seriously I know it's all opinion but that thing is an eyesore. Also with SSD you're supposed to get a cheaper ~64GB one for the OS and then get a HDD for everything else.
To see the largest difference without buying a big size, Get a 64-120gb SSD for the OS and main apps, get two medium size harddrives for RAID0 put all your games on them, then get 1-2 large drives for storage.
