Funny, last I heard Obsidian was a bit upset with Bethesda about one thing or another. Good to see them both on good terms then. And here's hoping for New Vegas 2.
Bethesda Fucking let them do it

And when that date came up, they had a metacritic rating of like 82 or 83 as I recall.
Yes please. I've played so much new Vegas, bought it for 360 yesterday to have something to play in bed without having to move my 13kg pc to the TV. Imo new Vegas was superior to fallout 3 in most ways although I prefer DC [editline]12th February 2013[/editline]
Most of the issues were just due to the fact that, for Obsidian to get a major pay bonus, they had to have a metacritic rating of 85 by a certain date.
Old World Blues is weird.
I'll never look at duct tape the same way
Old World Blues is weird.
The fucking Toaster man That fucking toaster

Really would have liked an entirely different setting but whatever, NV was fucking cool
i'd probably still buy it cus i'm stupid but a new vegas 2 would be dumb as hell set it somewhere new. wasn't there rumours of boston for fallout 4?
Nope, the metacritic was 84.
I couldn't remember exactly, I just knew it was no more than three points off.
if they do make a new fallout I hope that they at least improve the visuals of the game, I hate how such a good game like new vegas was let down by crap textures in obvious places.
if they do make a new fallout I hope that they at least improve the visuals of the game, I hate how such a good game like new vegas was let down by crap textures in obvious places.
Bethbryo.
I hope they have cloth physics too The NCR gear is so fucking cool but its let down by having the long coat made out of plastic or something
if they do make a new fallout I hope that they at least improve the visuals of the game, I hate how such a good game like new vegas was let down by crap textures in obvious places.
AFAIK the visuals are an inherent problem with Gamebryo which Bethesda will probably never stop using, it can't even render shadows correctly as far as I can tell
I love New Vegas, even more than I love Fallout 3. I'm hoping that one day they make a game set in San Francisco again.
Oh god, so there is hope after all! New Vegas was so much better then F3, and I was pretty pissed off at the whole Metacritic fiasco (I mean, I guess it's just business, and it's the reviewers' fault, not Bethesda's, but still), but hell, if they want to partner up with Bethesda again, I can't not say fuck yeah. Maybe this time they'll finally get enough time to polish their game before releasing? (aw, who am I kidding)

Ropekid even straight up said there were times they submitted things to Bethesda that worked that were released not working afterwards, for instance, the ability to kill that guy at the beginning of Honest Hearts that can have you fail the entire DLC right at the beginning. He said they submitted it with that NPC being flagged as essential for the beginning but Bethesda released it with that flag removed for... mysterious unexplained reasons. So yeah, you can imagine why they're annoyed.
Give them a good engine and let them do anything they want.
Shit, man, if there's an announcement of an Obsidian-developed Fallout: LA or something a couple years down the line, I will literally die of excitement. Even if it's forced to be made on the Creation engine, I don't think I'd mind much. Nothing beats having free reign over what engine they use and what they do with the game, but at least the Creation engine doesn't look like crap in literally every aspect besides some decent interior lightmaps like the old Bethbryo engine did. I'd still worry about Bethesda's crap QA team meddling with the game, though.

Well if Bethesda doesn't let Obsidian write the story and develop the characters for FO4, at least there is a faint hope that Obsidian will make a separate Fallout that won't be as dumbed down.
YES YES YES YES! Literally the prospect of getting a new Obsidian developed Fallout made my day, and it's not even official yet. Here's hoping it becomes a reality.
Obsidian knows their shit; we can trust these dashing freelancers with a fair few IPs. Fallout: LA (Lost Angels?) would certainly be something I would buy, though when I'd buy it would depend on how well the QA went, since New Vegas kind of an ant hill when it first came out. I like these guys and want to support them for their awesome games, but at the same time we need to have good standards pertaining to the smoothness of the games, since whilst some bugs can be amusing, others can be annoying. That aside, Bethesda really should give Obsidian another go with the Fallout IP, since a Fallout game in the Creation engine would probably look amazing; combine the good looks with Obsidian's quality writing and design, and you'd have a match made in heaven. Even though graphics are not strictly game design, they are nice to look at if done right, even if looking at stuff amounts to fuck-all if the game isn't engaging and interesting. Being fun is also important, but that's just one facet of the vibrant emotional spectrum of engagement, and we can do so much more with games than just being fun; we can make people scared, sad, intrigued, and all different sorts of engagement as well as the fun upon which the gaming industry was founded many decades ago.
Isn't the Boneyard almost completely developed from it's Fallout 1 state? Don't get me wrong, the Fallout universe is awesome and I think that even a story set in the "Civilized" part of the US would be interesting, but that wouldn't really have Fallout's atmosphere. Now, if they moved it back to the Fallout 1 timeframe, that would be awesome. Maybe something concerning the rise of the Master or the beginning of the Followers of the Apocalypse. That would be incredible.
I really really don't want the Walking Dead meets Fallout game they described. We've got enough zombie games, and the ghoul dungeons were always the worst parts of Fallout 3 and New Vegas
Give them a good engine and let them do anything they want.
UE4 or 3.5 please

If fallout is anything other than that, it's straying from the "fallout atmosphere." When talking to Razz in New Vegas he seems to let on that the boneyard is still a shithole.
