• Setting up my second monitor, got some questions.

I've just acquired a second monitor, and after trying to fiddle with it I can't seem to produce the desired results (if it's even possible). What I want is a way that when I'm playing games or doing stuff that fully takes up my primary monitor, that the second monitor shows me the desktop ( the original, not an extension of it.). Second is that when the primary is busy that a key press, like alt x or something, makes the cursor go to the second screen. Is any of this possible. If so, how would I go about and do it?
Yes - you need to make it extended like THIS [img_thumb]http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/6462/howtoextend.png[/img_thumb]
Didn't do anything. Full screen on primary monitor and no actual desktop shows up on the second screen. With desktop I mean the same display as I see when the primary monitor isn't busy.
I'm sorry I don't understand now. :U Try rebooting - make sure display drivers are up to date.
I've got a blank screen with my wallpaper on the second screen, but it's just as it says in the config screen. An extension to the original desktop. I can get my mouse over there, but it's not what I want it to do. When I'm in a game or whatever with my main screen, I want the second screen to show my original desktop with all the icons and taskbar and such, not the extended part of it. Plus I want to switch focus of my screens when I do a key combo, so when I have to wait or anything I can browse/do other stuff with my second display without alt tabbing. [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] What I basically want is: A way to use my second screen as a regular desktop when the main screen is doing something else, without alt tabbing whatever is on the first screen.

But I really don't think what you're trying to do is possible.
