Okay Facepunch. I have reached the end of the metaphorical, technological rope. I'm not able to play certain games, like Portal, TF2, and now Minecraft. However, I'm completely able to play Killing Floor (albeit on low, but I think that's just a spec issue and not connected). Sorry for the huge photos.
My specs:

I just ran a diagnostic boot-up thing, and everything was supposedly fine.
Some of the errors I've gotten:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Java a few times, I've run CCleaner, but I haven't run that memtest36 thing because I don't have a blank CD to put it on, otherwise I would (and it's on my list of things to do, don't worry). Is the RAM corrupted or is there another problem?
Sounds like a RAM issue, but your computer is... So crap, to put it bluntly, that fixing it wouldn't really be worth it. You'd just be better off building a new one.
You could also verify the game's integrity through Steam. Sometimes that can cause issues as well.
Edit:
And ffs get rid of Norton, it's probably why some of your games preform badly, Norton itself is like a resource eating virus.
Use Avast! or MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials).
Though, it's your choice, you don't have to switch but I strongly recommend it...
If it really was a RAM issue, you would probably see Windows crash, rather than simply programs. Try reinstalling the games, and if you really think it's a RAM issue, running MemTest86+ is probably your best bet. I think it's a videocard issue, though, as it's DX8 and as far I recall TF2 (and other games based on the EP2 source engine or whatever) doesn't support that. The point where I agree with scoot, would be that I wouldn't recommend upgrading your computer; it's simply too old. Save up some money, and build a new one.
Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, that Portal screenshot is a really old one. I uninstalled Norton a loooooong time ago, since it simply wasn't finding the literal fucking army of adware on the computer, and installed MSE.
So, turns out the computer is broken again, and I completely agree with you guys. It's so old that it's not worth upgrading, even if I could. I'm going to push for building one, but my step-dad wants to buy a pre-built. But again, thanks for the help.
