I for one welcome our new spectacle overlords!
Do they come with a yellow tint?
There's a thread in videos already: http://facepunch.com/threads/1175104

god forbid something be in its proper section
I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I don't get it, he bought a book about playing ukulele, didn't even read it once, yet ended up playing a song with it on a rooftop at the end.

I look forward to seeing this being embedded in prescription glasses that don't make you look like you came from the future
Even though it is kinda cool that it looks like something that people in the 80's thought would be the future :v:

There is a skip after he takes that picture where the sun starts to set. I think he is supposed to have read it during that time.
I would definitely buy these.
feels like something out of Star Trek. wow..
If it's actually that fast and smooth I'd buy one in an instant, but I have a feeling it's a bit more sluggish.

Its probably going to be android based so....

Why don't they do that for the current Android OS on phones? The lag is unacceptable, some of these phones are $300.

The problem is Android puts the actual processing of an application above the priority of drawing and animating the UI.
iPhone and WP7 will stop rendering a webpage if you start dragging the screen around and there isn't enough processing power to do both.
Android doesn't give a shit, it keeps going, which seems better in theory, but it does give you that awful lag in some cases.
The entire Android ui is kept in framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk so those aren't ran natively, they are java applications like every other app you install.
Loving the idea of this and knew that in the future we would get these. Just wondering about my current glasses though. Would they start to sell these in Glasses shops like pre-suited to your strength etc. That would be cool especially for those with astigmatisms :)
*Gasp* The future is nearly here!
EDIT: Also would the camera like use your eyes, if so it would be probably the best camera on earth!

Nah, it would just be a little sensor on the front of the frame.

That's a shame. Imagine some wire being drilled through your head and wired into your eyes, that would be creepy man! Aliens all over again! :S
Does it come with real life adblock? :3

I'm no programmer, but I was under the impression that Java is rather disliked and clunky/bloated. Why does Android use it?

They did it for ICS, it's constant 60 FPS now if I recall correctly

Portability, you don't need to recompile your applications for every CPU with Java as it's compiled to bytecode (which later gets translated to machine code at run time).
Trust me, I'm from the programming section.
I for one really like this idea. It'd be pretty fun to mess around with (I'm a huge tech/gadget nerd.. haha) and to have! It also has some really practical uses. I can't wait for it personally. I wonder how it's all going to work though. I doubt it'll work like it does on the video. I've seen loads of cool augmented reality stuff but it rarely works as advertised :( Or it might just be me
Let's hope it'll look stylish too so you don't look like a total nerd wearing them :D

Don't think so. If I'm moving around my homescreen and a stupid bottom fade-in notification comes in the UI slows to a crawl.

Weird on both devices I used (outdated SGSI and Tegra 2 Acer Iconia) ics runs really, really smooth

I used to run a custom ICS rom on my HTC Desire Z/Vision/G2 and it's pretty damn fluid. And has been since hardware rendering got enabled really. The only thing preventing me from still having it is that the camera's all borked on a ICS rom. :(

Ah thanks, but out of curiosity, what does Windows do for this problem?
As far as other uses not mentioned in the video, what would you like to see?
I really think that with a reliable speech recognition software and a reliable translation suite it would be really cool to have the option to connect headsets with someone who speaks a different language and have an active translation shown as subtitles in your own language at the bottom of the display. Sure it might have some flaws and things might get a bit lost in translation, but it seems doable and like it could come in handy for basic communication.
Also, in the video, I don't know how he checked into that coffee place without saying anything. A second concern is using a headset while driving.
Honeycomb's UI works just fine on my Toshiba Thrive.
