Well no shit, the game isn't fucking finished, and we didn't get content for the last 3 months or so
They wanted to finish the game by the end of the year, and obviously that won't be the case if they pull this shit out when they can't add 1 perk with 3 weapons and a map after 3 months!
I mean fuck, they took 6 months to make the incinerate and detonate patch!
Why would you pull off something like this after Skyrim's paid mods fiasco and right after Payday2's microtransactions uproar... why.. just why..
But yeah. I have KF2. I'd kinda like to get it refunded now. This is bullshit. I don't want to support something like this. Development as is is horribly slow, they're still in early access and they're releasing paid content. Fuck that.

To be fair, at least most of the content was made in the polycount contest, and on the programming side its a carbon copy of the TF2 system, with the cosmetic system already in place.
Its not like the spend 6 months making hats instead of weapons.
I think less than pleased is an understatement.

well what the hell have they been doing? because they havent exactly released much
Remember, these are the guys who released an update for Red Orchestra 2 about 8~ months after it was released, and it was basic bug-fixes that were desperately needed for the game.
Do not trust Tripwire with your money.

Working on different games, the super slow content additions has been a thing from the start.
It seems like they just treated the early-access as release and the moved everybody off the team.

i havent played their other games, but from what ive heard, they sure havent been getting anything either.

New titles, not existing ones. Rising Storm 2, and they are developing an Homeworld title published by gearbox.
They have like 50 people in the company.

To be fair, their other games are pretty much at the end of their lifetimes and the games that they are working on now are the sequels to those games.
Killing Floor 2's microtransactions are entirely cosmetic, they offer no advantages or content to paying players. So what's the problem?
I don't really see the problem. Dota 2 was in beta for years and had paid chests/hats and huge spans of time between 1-2 heroes being released.
Sure Dota is free and KF2 isn't but Tripwire prolly make in a year what Valve makes in 1 hour. Pure cosmetics to help them out is acceptable imo.
Killing Floor 2's microtransactions are entirely cosmetic, they offer no advantages or content to paying players. So what's the problem?
imo even if it's "just" cosmetics, I want to buy a game and have the option to UNLOCK cosmetics by playing the game, not fucking pay for them.
Killing Floor 2's microtransactions are entirely cosmetic, they offer no advantages or content to paying players. So what's the problem?
I paid $40 for it expecting them to make content for it and all I got was microtransactions.
Actually genuinely trying to get a refund atm.

Guess you missed the point..
Game is early access, still lacks majority of content and now this shit. That is the problem.

Boo fuckin hoo. It prolly takes 1 work day to make the skins and the funds can go toward more content like new maps/zeds/weapons/characters
Boo fuckin hoo. It prolly takes 1 work day to make the skins and the funds can go toward more content like new maps/zeds/weapons/characters
But that's kind of the thing, the game's not fucking finished, it's still an early access title.
There's content and bugfixes that have yet to be added yet, we're missing perks and weapons, no real workshop support yet, etc.
I wouldn't care about the cosmetics if the game was in a complete state, but it's not. It's fucking unfinished. This is a kick to the face to everyone that supported the game the game so far.
Boo fuckin hoo. It prolly takes 1 work day to make the skins and the funds can go toward more content like new maps/zeds/weapons/characters
Excuse me while I use the same argument you made to explain that the content we were promised when we paid into it is not being given.
Why should we pay more for the shit advertised to us.
[editline]24th November 2015[/editline]
It takes a day to make cosmetics. Why would put something that takes a day above the list of something that takes months.

If only more content actually came out

something something Brook's Law, something something
To all the people saying "what's the big deal???"
Think of it like this:
You order a nice, expensive steak, and you agree to pay for a specific weight of steak (say, 16 oz of T-Bone).
They bring out the steak, it looks nice but there's only 1/3 of it there, the rest as been cut off, and it isn't cooked particularly well either.
The waiter comes over and says "we're working on it don't rush us! You'll have the rest of your steak when it's done. When will that be? when we get to it."
And then he offers you "steak costumes" at 2.50$ a piece.
The game isn't finished yet, and they're already trying to squeeze more money out of you.
It doesn't matter if it's "entirely cosmetic," The game isn't finished yet, any and all time should be focused on delivering promised content and NOT adding cosmetics and costumes that you need to pay even more real money for.
If the game was finished and Tripwire had delivered all promised content to Early Access backers, I would be okay with this (still slightly upset because it's a crate system designed to squeeze even more money out of the consumer instead of just outright charging for cosmetics but whatever), but we're still missing massive amounts of content and they're trying to nickel and dime even more out of people who supported them by paying full price for a game that isn't even complete yet.

You ever stop to think that maybe the early access model isn't working for them financially and shit like purely optional, no impact whatsoever on gameplay items might give them a financial boost to add the missing content? Tripwire isn't a huge AAA studio with millions to dump into development.
You fucking paid into an Early Access system WILLINGLY knowing full well what that entitles and you wanna cry because X isn't added yet. Keyword: Yet.
Now if the game was released, and not you know Early Access, and they decided to add a hat economy before fixing bugs, adding workshop support, and delivering the rest of game, I could fully understand your outrage. But as of now ya'll just look like a bunch of twats making something so insignificant into some big fucking outrage as if Tripwire took your money and ran.
-snip- meh
Guess you missed the point..

But the cosmetics are like Dota's: they're community designed, this isn't even cutting into development. And even if it was the work would only be done by artists, the programmers would still be working on the game.
I did a small video about this for my channel, figure I'll post it here since I feel it's relevant.

I guess I'll drop this off, too, if only to spread some info and discussion.
Y'know, discussion that isn't just "fuck you OverWire"
I paid into an Early Access title from a developer who's games I enjoyed
You paid into Early Access to a developer that sold purely cosmetic character models and locked gameplay altering weaponry(most of the time direct upgrades) behind pay walls in the first game and you're shocked that they'd do it again.
You get what you fuckin pay for bud. You love Tripwire so much, you should be used to how they operate by now.

that content was released after the game was a reasonably finished product, though.
I'm not suprised, they even sold weapons with unique stats and abilities before in KF.
