Newegg is doing a HUGE promotion for the new XFX 5970. Go help the chick out http://promotions.newegg.com/xfx/082310/index.html?cm_mmc=SNC-Facebook-_-na-_-na-_-na&nm_mc=SNC-Facebook It comes in a freaking gun ! How badass is that? and it's only priced at the amazingly affordable price of $1,200 !!!!
PEW PEW PEW im gonna shoot you with my pixel shaders
Makes you wonder how much cheaper they could sell it if it didn't come in a gun shaped box and carry bag thing.
Judging from that pic it's just some sort of plastic case, not really worth it. it doesn't even have a goddamn hole If they raise the price by more than 30 dollars, that's just ripoff. 5 dollars, no more. It really isn't worth all the effort
I'm not paying 400 bucks for plastic gun and bag
Holy motherfucking god that card is expensive.
Cringeworthy video
I'm not paying 400 bucks for plastic gun and bag
It has a faster core clock and double the memory. It's not just a gun and bag....
It has a faster core clock and double the memory. It's not just a gun and bag....
Still not worth it.
I totally agree, it's not really worth it.
It's a promo, It's not meant to be the best bang for your buck.
Newegg links don't work for me :(
Would it outperform the 5870x2?
and it's only priced at the amazingly affordable price of $1,200 !!!!
Hahaha [editline]08:48PM[/editline] I don't think so, sir
Would it outperform the 5870x2?
I would assume so. It's the same thing just with 5970's instead.
I would assume so. It's the same thing just with 5970's instead.
do you know what a 5970 is? [editline]03:48PM[/editline]
Would it outperform the 5870x2?
no
Still, Crossfire scales like shit anyway.
do you know what a 5970 is?
Im not familar with ati's numbering scheme, but I made the assumption that a higher number was better.
"He might have had information" :frogsiren:
4 gigs of memory, is that even needed?
4 gigs of memory, is that even needed?
GTA IV That game eats through VRAM like it's nothing.
GTA IV That game eats through VRAM like it's nothing.
no it doesn't it just (stupidly) limits your settings based on VRAM [editline]06:45PM[/editline]
Im not familar with ati's numbering scheme, but I made the assumption that a higher number was better.
so don't assume shit when you don't know what you're talking about
Did I miss something, or is there any difference specification-wise between this card and the Asus Ares 5970? The XFX version is cheaper, and only requires 2 8 pins for power, while still maintaining the core clock of 850MHz found on the Ares. A 5970 is pretty much 2 5850s, while the Ares is 2 5870s. Unless I'm missing something, I'd imagine that since this is being labeled as a 5970, it too is a dual 5850 card.
I loved the picture in the OP until I saw the XFX logo. Reason for extreme hatred: http://www.overclock.net/ati/761201-xfx-again-warranty-denial.html
My own Promotion from NCIX :smug:

Don't jump on the :bandwagon: XFX is one of the best brands to buy from, I always consider them when buying GPUs or recommending them.
Nice how I just bought a xfx made card. :smith:
Nice how I just bought a xfx made card. :smith:
They are fine. My XFX card is still going after 3yrs.

The actual has two 5870 GPUs clocked at the same speed as 5850 GPU (725 MHz).
