Ok, early last week my graphics card died, the computer store said that my games killed it from too much use.
I play mostly my Steam games (TF2, HL2, Bioshock, etc.) and WoW.
Could these games probably kill it?
(I'm on my mother's Mac right now)
Usage alone does not kill cards, but the heat generated from usage can. Your card probably fried itself due to it either being caked up with dust or due to a shoddy cooler. May I ask what your old card was?
The people at the computer store are idiots, where did you take it? Best Buy?
It was a Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS,
Also I didn't take it to best buy, compUSA, or any of those big shitty computer stores, my father took it to some place called, I think computer city.
(the dust must have killed it since there was alot of it in the fan)
They said I need a better card for what I use it for.
now my dad is getting a 9400.
If you see dust accumulating on the fan, the inside is well overdue for a cleaning. You can get these pump aerosol cans that spray air, I recommend getting one and cleaning the inside and such with it every 2 months.
As for he card, yeah, I expect it fried.

how would I have seen the dust, it doesn't make any noise or smell to let me know that it is collecting dust, also before someone says clean the fan, it was the fan connected to the card, not the fan used to cool the whole computer off.
Just clean it every 2 damn months, it will increase the life fan of your rig.\
It is also a awesome idea to have the outtake fan and intake fan (if you got a intake) out in the open, and not shoved in a corner.

You, uh, look at it? Or are you one of those people who thinks that you can't open the side of a computer due to upsetting the COSMIC BALANCE OF THE PIXIE DUST. Just open it up, and take an air duster to the card/fan/inside of the case.

...My dad claims ownership of everything in the house.
He yells at anyone that tries to open the computer, saying that it will break unless it's opened some special way that he thinks I'm to stupid to know.
[editline]futt-buckers[/editline]
I just told my dad that the dust killed it and that we just need to clean the fan out every 2 months, but he told me "I don't want to fucking hear it!", and started acusuing me of saying it was his fault that the card is fried.
ugh he's such an asshole.

Let him blame himself, If you're not paying for it, sit back and enjoy.
Tell him he's a fool don't listen to anything your dad tells you just nod and say uh-huh, because he's fucking retarted. Also trick him into buying a better card.
Agreed.
