Since I'm going to uni soon my godmother handed me down an asus laptop with 2 gb ram and 256 mb vram. What are the best games to play on that configuration, aside from roguelikes and old action games?
That thing is so fucking old it came with windows vista preinstalled. It still has Die Hard 4.0, Ocean's 13 and 1408 in the Downloads folder.
Hotline Miami?

It's true. I have a shit laptop and play Civ 5 using the Hex mode
Also you can easily put 100+ hours on a single playthrough of Terraria
Or Civ IV, which a lot of people prefer.
Luftrausers
Minecraft is always a good time waster
Custer's Revenge
If you have time to learn it Dwarf Fortress
X-COM UFO Defense / X-COM Terror From the Deep / Jagged Alliance 2 / Doom / Quake / MDK / Monkey Island 1 & 2...
Basically anything that is a good DOS game
Space Beast Terror Fright would probably run pretty well I think, be sure to double-check the minimum requirements though. If you have the capacity to play online, it may be ideal to get someone else to host.
the sims 2
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead. Just ran it on a shitty netbook recently and it ran fine.
Cave Story (It's free, but there's a version with more content and enhanced music/graphics on Steam)
Half Life 1 / Sven Coop mod.
C&C Tiberium Dawn / Tiberium Sun / Red Alert 1&2
Doom 3 / ROE + mods (DO NOT FUCKING GET BFG EDITION FOR FUCKS SAKE)
Unreal Tournament 99 + mods
Doom 1/2 + Zandorum
F.E.A.R.
Faster Than Light
Mount And Blade
Quake 1/2/3
Serious Sam First/Second Encounter
Starbound / Terraria / Minecraft / Trove
Fallout 1/2
It would be useful to know what processor it has.
The Touhou games doesn't seem to require much.
Half-Life 1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force
MANOS: The Hands of Fate
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Also don't forget about rogue likes such as Dungeon of Dredmor or Tales of Maj'Eyal.
Batman: Arkham Knight
Our Darker Purpose

On that same note, Open TTD.
I think Fallout 3/New Vegas can run on toasters.
Monkey Island 1-3.
Full Throttle.
Police Quest.
Worms Armageddon.
Theme Hospital.
Dungeon Keeper.
Maniac Mansion.
Day of the Tentacle.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Sam & Max Hit the Road.
Grim Fandango.
The Dig.
Star Wars: Dark Forces.
That's some of the good ol' games that i can remember that you can play, you can use ScummVM or DosBox to play the old games. Both websites also has a number of games that they support which is free to download.
That's if you want to overdose on nostalgia. :v:
Peggle
I think most hentai games have low requirements.
Age of Empires 2 is an excellent time waster for a very old game. Also try football manager.
Warcraft III, Geometry Dash, and Dungeon Keeper
