• Windows 7 RC x64 + Realtek HD Audio = no sound

Hello, So I've installed the Windows 7 RC 64-bit this morning. Everything went fine, but the sound does not work. I go and download the latest drivers for my Realtek HD Audio chipset. As soon as it's over, I reboot, and still no sound! I then clean up the already-installed drivers, so there is really NOTHING about the sound on the machine, I reinstall the drivers, I reboot... and still no sound. Yes, the speakers are plugged in; no, nothing is being muted. The most strange part is that in the sound panel, you can clearly see the VU-M display the level of the sound... PROBLEM FIXED: I installed the Acer-specific version of the drivers (it was x86 but oddly it worked). The speakers were still not detected, but the headphones were! So I just put the speakers' jack plug on my front panel. Ugly, but it works :D
hello how are you doing o I had that problem, maybe try install the intel chipset drivers.
I had that problem, maybe try install the intel chipset drivers.
I don't think installing the drivers for another sound card is going to help :raise:
Oh my... Go with the chipset drivers.
Oh my... Go with the chipset drivers.
That's what I'm doing. They install fine, but they don't work. Yes, they're the Win7 specific version. Does anyone know if I've got to install them in a particular fashion?
Select the sound device when 2 sound cards are present
Select the sound device when 2 sound cards are present
I don't have two sound cards. [editline]10:34AM[/editline] I'm starting to think that maybe my chipset is the original computer's manufacturer one... Does anyone know where to find a 64-bit version for Asus Realtek HD Audio Manager? [editline]10:42AM[/editline] Problem fixed
