So my little brother knocked the fucking power off while I was playing Wolfenstein. Also, I just got a new GTX 960 (which has been fitted/installed into my PC). Since the power outage knocked my PC off, would it have caused any damage to my graphics card AT ALL?
Probably not.
Also how the hell did your brother kill your power?
Have you tried booting it since it shut off?
99% chance that nothing happened at all. Unless your PC won't boot or your graphics card isn't responding, you're fine.
Unless there's smoke coming out of your PC there's no other way to check than to turn it on so uhh, try turning it on?
Your graphics card will be absolutely fine. It's your HDD I would be worried about, but even those are designed to fail safely in the event of a power cut
Been there. The only real problem you'd likely encounter would be data corruption (if you were downloading/writing to disk). If you have an SSD in your system, there's a very small chance it might not be detected anymore (in which case, follow the power cycle procedure). GPU should be fine as well as every other component.
Thanks, all of you. I was just being irrational. And our power thingy has switches... so my little brother managed to climb onto something and knock them all off.
Yeah power loss is not an issue for physical components, data loss is what you have to worry about. Surges and "brown outs" are what damage hardware.
